Nothing percolating” for Mike Gesicki contract extension

We had something like that in my fraternity

On hell week we dug a pit and filled it with water and cow poop and you could challenge a guy you did not care for to battle in it

Not something we want to do here

Kelce (24) no stats
Gesicki (24) 89 targets, 51 catches, 5 TDs
Kittle (24) 63 targets, 43receptions , 2 TDs

Kelce (age 25 season) 87 targets, 67 catches, 5 TDs
Waller (25) missed season
Gesicki (25) 85 targets, 53 catches, 6 TDs
Kittle (25) 136 targets, 88 catches, 5 TDs

Waller (26) 6 targets, 6 catches, 0 TDs
Kelce (26) 103, 72, 5
Kittle (26) 107, 85, 5TDs
Gesicki is 26 this year...

Gesicki is just getting to the age where Tight Ends tend to explode. As you can see, his TD numbers are already higher than the competition managed in their similar seasons. The folks who scuff their toes and say, "but he don't block much", are completely missing the point, he isn't being asked to block... he's a slot TE. If we let him go, he'll go to a passing circus team (like the Chiefs) and flirt with leading the league.

He led the Dolphins in TDs last year, and was second in targets and yardage to DVP. The Dolphins are NOT going to suddenly say... well, he led the team in TDs last year, let's shut him down. I mean... c'mon, that's just stupid.

Will he become Gonzo (who mostly worked out of the slot), or Gates? Doubtful... but only because of the fact that those two guys may have been the best TEs in history... and yeah, comparing anyone to a first ballot Hall of Famer is not going to go well for them.
I have stated that I personally want them to resign Gesicki. Yet I just wonder if Gesicki is the TE Flores wants going forward. They have drafted, signed in free agency and traded for 3 TE’s over the past year. That just makes me wary when it comes to Flores wanting to spend the type of money Gesicki will obviously be looking for if he makes it to free agency next year.

I think how much they will value him in free agency next year will come down to how productive they feel Long will be in the future.

If the Offensive Triad plan on using MG like Atlanta does Pitts, he could be just as impactful. He's just as much of a mismatch problem for defenses.

Maybe Flo & Co. have seen his value elsewhere. Long could fill the traditional role, when MG is another weapon for Tua.

You have inside knowledge of how Atlanta plans to use Pitts?

Impressive.........

He was a mismatch problem was the point. It's only a guess that Atlanta would want to exploit that as much as possible. My bad. Didn't mean to come across as factual.

I agree, MG is a mismatch as a recieving threat, and will be even moreso when teams can't double, and shade safety help against him.

Dude, you really have no idea what you're talking about. Today TE's are blocking machines. George Kittle is know as a Blocking beast. When Tampa faced Washington in the play-offs Gronk spent a fair amount of time blocking Chase Young. Gronk even blocked Chase 1v1 a few times with no problem. I played TE in college and I don't have to the time to explain why TE's that can block are 20 times more useful than ones that can't. One major reason is hiding the play call.

You need to watch a lot more film on today's TEs.

In 32 teams you can only name me less than 5 tight ends? You are just a Mike Giseki hater.

In this group we somehow expect him to be Gronk. Gronk, and Mike are different types of tight ends. Just like Kelce and Gronk are different types of tight ends. Gronk is never lined up in the slot, and etc. Some tight ends we are throwing arounds never line up in the slot. DIscussing a tight end is no different than discussing an offensive scheme. They will do what the scheme allows them to do. We are not gonna go blame a tight end that is known as a receiving mismatching threat as the reason why we lost a game because they couldn't block the hell out of someone that they are expected not to block easily. That is no different than roasting a receiver for not blocking like a tight end or a fullback.

I think that you are EXACTLY correct.

If Flo wants a Y-type TE, and has no interest in running a lot of 2 TE sets, he'll let Gesicki walk... and Mike will break the bank, which will get us a 3rd round comp pick, if we don't sign a similar level player.

You can't be serious? I played tight end in college. I can name you 20 years of tight ends.

And I hate Mike Gesicki? Are you unable to read? Might wanna check my post history or even posts in this thread.

Out of the 80 TEs in the league, how many are blockers? 76 of them? Gronk, does his job better than any one else but Gronk is a prototypical TE.
You obviously have no clue about what the position is. I'm guessing you've never played football?

First of all I didn't ask you what position you played in college. And second of all it doesn't matter what position you played in college, what you do for a living, what I did in college, or what you do for a living. You responded to my message first, as if you were on your period. What happen to you, you weren't like this the last time I was here. Go take your midol, and watch soap opera Miss Hydra. I would rather believe you play powder puff than actual college football with that attitude you got going on you now.
