I thought the QB coach was the relative. But even if he's not related, it's a form of nepotism to hire people over and over because of loyalty and familiarity and not necessarily talent. Parcells did that with Sparano. Philbin likes loyalty and familiarity, and if you notice when he's asked what he likes about a person he often will say that person knows when to "shut their mouth." (He said this in reference to Turner, as well). I initially though Turner was just a Sherman guy, but Turner worked under Philbin at Northeastern. So he was an employee of both of them at some point. So when Philbin becomes head coach, instead of mining the Packers staff like we thought he would, he went slumming for a guy from college who wasn't promoted even after doing this job (O line coach) for 20 years.
