i agree with the draft history thing. im with u. he didnt have full control the whole time tho either. i was in tampa at that time. i cant remember what the situation was cause i didnt give a **** about the bucs. they were missing alot of draft picks tho.

gruden needs a good/proven talent evaluator that he can work with tho. then im gruden all the way. i agree with u tho

from a coaching standpoint - theres nobody better. and hes young enough, and i think this guys just ****y enough (but not arrogant) to stand up to belicheck and ryan in his own division - and say im better than these guys - ill show them. the guy could be here for years. and i think hes that guy that could build/ would stick around and want to build a legacy. imagine if he won 3 super bowls here in the same division w bb? theyd say he was better than belicheck. he could go head to head with the best. i think nothing would get gruden going more than this. miamis a great situation for him. its a perfect fit

i think it would be a hell of a division. some real wars

This is a pipedream... Gruden isn't even in the same stratosphere as BB. Gruden hasn't won crap with a QB under 35... He hasn't developed a single QB...

I wouldn't trust Gruden to turn this thing around.

Rob Ryan.

It took Cowher 14 seasons to finally win a Super Bowl, and I think he's rusty from sitting in a TV booth for years.

Also the entertainment value of both Ryans coaching against each other in the same division would be epic.
Key word there. I'll take a trip to the Super Bowl and regularly competing to get there any day over what we've had. Cowher's won more Super Bowls in 14 years than we have in going on 40.

Totally agree, X's and O's wise Gruden is among the best running a sound West Coast Offense. I just think you really NEED a strong GM to make sure we're getting the studs necessary to make the West Coast machine go.

its a pipedream?? give me a break. better get ur facts straight. and thats like saying a coach has never won a superbowl with an 18 year old quarterback. makes no sense, and its so arbitrary.

fact is gruden HAS won. and he HAS won a superbowl. may have been a tuck rule from another. and u might not think hes in the same stratosphere but how do u know? there is CERTAINLY not evidence AGAINST and ONLY potential evidence for. and i never said he was anyways.

gruden had more success in his FIRST stop than belicheck did. and he DID win a superbowl in his second stop. if he came to miami and happened to win 2 superbowls in his first 2 years? guess what....people would be saying hes better than belicheck.

u dont know till it happens. you would have said the same thing 2 years ago about aaron rodgers and brett favre too.

but looking at it now, when its all said and done aaron rodger may be BETTER.

so no case here. and chuckie has only has a history of success.

The Buccs got worse each year after Gruden took over. Once Dungy's defense was gone, the bottom fell out. Gruden got quite fortunate to face his former team (which he knew their entire offense) otherwise he never would have won a Superbowl.

This is the not the right question.

The first question is to decide who your GM is going to be.
Do you stick with Ireland or Not?
If you stick with Ireland then Cowher, Gruden, and Fischer are likely out.

You may laugh but I could see a scenario of Tony getting the Axe and Ireland staying. What if DT, Gates and Pouncey all end up being wins from the draft. Could the GM really get the axe?

Rob Ryan is too much of a risk. Too much like his brother. I just don't see it happening.
Fischer is a great guy. Not sure if he has the fire. I think the end of days in Tennessee took a lot out of him.
Cowher he is a proven commodity, but he will want total control and I am not sure if he will be able to put it all together again with a weak regime like Miami.
Gruden- I could definitely see this happening. Qb specialist. He would need a strong GM.
The only way that I see Nolan getting the job is if he takes the interim role and is successful. Otherwise no chance.
Martz- not a chance.

FWIW not a chance that Sparano gets canned mid season unless we lose our first 7,8 games.

Rob Ryan... Cowher and Gruden scare me because 2nd go-round coaches aren't as successful as the first time. Also, Gruden didn't build that team...neither did Cowher really.

Rob Ryan would be intriguing, because he'd be going against Rex.

Absolutely Hilarious!

After killing Rex Ryan for 2 years, going on three, you want his brother here as your HC.

Will all of those who trashed Rex and want Rob as your HC, please thank my post. I think I can set a record for "thanks" on this board in 4 hours. Isn't Rob "too fat" to win anything? Doesn't he have a big mouth? Isn't he to arrogent to win? Funny - same qualities as the head coach of my team.

I'll take your interest in Rob Ryan as a compliment to the Jets....

Rex is an asshat, but nobody can deny he's been successful thus far. That said you can be content in knowing I'd rather have a proven winner than another unproven OC/DC or Assistant HC.

wow. where do i start here? u do realize that nothing u said here is accurate correct? i would say something but what u had to say is so ridiculous its not even worthy of a response, and i dont feel like doing your research for you. maybe u can find some info at the following link about 3/4 down the page. if youre going to make an argument for or against at least have your information correct before u formulate an opinion

Gruden sucks, Tony Dungy built that Tampa Bay Super Bowl team. Gruden never could find a QB for Tampa, when he left they finally drafted one in the first round and now Tampa is on the rise AFTER Gruden left.

Cowher wouldnt be bad but it took him forever to realize he needed a QB and when he finally drafted one in the first round, he finally got a ring. So both of those guys worry cause they arent very good with QB's and thats what we've been missing since marino.

All the other guys have been head coaches else where, Nolan sucked in San Fran, Martz doesnt know anything abt defense, so ill go with Rob Ryan, he could be a good head coach. I also wouldnt mind Jeff Fisher

Then who build the teams that Oakland contended for a Super Bowl with????

Rex Ryan didn't build the Jets, he made them better, and Rob certainly didn't build anything, what's your point? Gruden has something going for him that nobody else does. A combination of experience and youth.

whats with the Cowher love? guy looks like JJ part 2 to me.

he'll come in here with his arrogance and blow up all the peices on this team just like johnson and parcells did. he'll get us no where enough of these old man retreads and their "dreams" of becoming super bellicheck-like personel/coaches. get me a guy who can motivate and utilize the players we already have here! get me gruden or Rob Ryan or some young hungry guy!

BINGO. experience, youth, AND success. AND develops QBs.

there simply isnt another guy out there with the combination of assets this guy has. and truthfully its not close. but i understand why guys would side with cowher. just honestly dont know what about cowher sets him apart from gruden. at the same time there are many things that set gruden apart from cowher.

Whether it be Rob, Bill, Jon or whoever, I just want a damn coach who will have this team prepared EVERY Sunday! I just want a damn coach who will stop making poor game management decisions! I just want a damn coach who KNOWS what the hell he is doing instead of saying "I have no answers". That's just awful and inexcusable for a head coach.
