Official 76ers Thread

I seriously have no idea why the Bucks drafted John Henson when they just drafted him a few years ago in Larry Sanders... Same exact height. Same exact wingspan. Same exact standing reach. Same exact no step vert. Same exact no step vert reach. Only 6 lbs difference. Only drafted one pick apart. And they play nearly the same exact way.

In other words, yea I'm sour. I thought for sure we'd finally have a shot blocker again... In other other words, Sixers need to try to get Larry Sanders.

I sure as hell hope that pick is protected... If so it's a good trade. Moultrie is a great athlete and rebounder with great size and length. Especially if he plays the 4. Combine that with Vucevic and his freakish length and I might not feel so bad about our bigs...

Apparently Harkless' growth plates are still open. He's already 6'9". Wonder if he can have a growth spurt similar to Paul George who went from 6'8" to 6'10" last offseason.

First off, what do you mean that the pick is protected?

Moultrie was a guy that I wouldn't have minded if we drafted him with the #15 pick. To get Harkless and what looks to be Moultrie, this has been a pretty good draft.

I'd like to see that happen with Harkless too. He looks like a good athlete that can contribute right away.

Oh, and leave it to the Bucks to take Doron Lamb in the 2nd round. Dicks.

It means that if we suck next year and get the top pick, the Heat won't get our pick. Surely our staff can't be that stupid though. Not even Billy King is that dumb. Probably a deal where the pick is top 20 protected and turns into a 2nd round pick of something since the Heat aren't looking to pay a 1st rounder a guaranteed contract.

I like Harkless, but... How does he fit with this team? He's a 20% 3 point shooter last year... If we trade Iguodala and start him and Turner, that has to be the worst shooting starting wings in the history of the NBA... Can't really complain since literally everybody got picked before us. The Bucks taking John Henson right before us still pisses me off. Try actually giving Larry Sanders some burn before you draft his replica. Gah. And supposedly Thorn said they see Harkless as a 4. I hope to **** that was just typical RealGM nonsense or I'm turning in my fan card immediately. I would like to think they would of just drafted Terrence Jones then if they wanted that type of 4. About to watch the press conference now.

Watched the Thorn presser and feel much better now. They see Harkless as a 3. Thank God. But do think he can play a few minutes at the 4 if needed. They also seem to think his bad 3 point shooting last year was a fluke. Said they watched all his High School tape where he was a terrific shooter, and then came in and hit 37 out of 50 3 pointers during the workout. Thorn confirmed that his growth plates are still open and they think Harkless is going to grow even more. They seen Harkless as a kid with too much potential to pass up. Thorn was asked about Tyler Zeller and said they felt he was too similar to in skillset to Vucevic and that if they wanted to grab a big, it would be someone with a different skillset. Hence the Moultrie pick, who's a terrific athlete.

All in all, this was a pretty good draft. All I'm going to hear tomorrow is "why did we draft another SF?" but Harkless looks like a guy with upside.

I didn't want them to draft Zeller either. Like Thorn said, he was similar to Vucevic. Tall, skinny white boy with a good post game. That said, I liked that we were able to make that trade for Moultrie. He's a good athlete that this team can use.

there seems to be some good reports coming about you guys draft picks last night...just don't suck this year and give the heat a #15 pick or something...that 1st rounders definitely lotto protected or your gms a moron

you guys though desperately need a pure shooter...maybe thats what iggy is traded for later on...

have to admit i got a little excited about getting sullinger and jones with those two early 20's picks but for whatever reason we went with melo instead...at some point and in the early 20's jones is too dang talented to let him fall any further...soft player soft personality or not...at minimum he can be a guy that gives you minutes and runs the floor off the bench...and at best heck he could be legit...

oh well...melo and sullinger is pretty good to me...to get them where we did

I agree we need a shooter. But we have Free Agency for that, and for the first time in forever actually have cap room since Brand is most likely getting amnestied. I just hope we don't spend money for the sake of spending it. Hand out some 1 year deals if you have to and just save the money for next years FA class.

Not a Melo fan but do like the Sullinger pick. One of the few big men these days that actually has skill while all the rest are a bunch of long, athletic guys who have a bunch of "potential" which is just a nice way of saying they can't do anything offensively but dunk. I think Sullinger is going to be a good offensive player in the NBA.

i've been watching some melo workouts...it's better than i thought...not a great athlete but he's got a soft touch around the rim can shoot the hook with either hand...needs to use his body more to get position on the low block...i also need to see more motor...but he passes out of the double team and sees the floor decent

i'm probably just trying to talk myself into him as a pick...ha ha...it's better than i expected i know that

celtics pursuing jason terry...i would LOVE that
