Official 76ers Thread

And yet another team enters the Wiggins derby. If he starts tearing it up at Kansas its gonna be hilarious watching teams fall over themselves to lose as many games as possible.
I was having similar thoughts myself. The Sixers are starting from scratch, and hopefully they can do that with Wiggins. I don't think they'll get the #1 pick next year, but they should get a real good player.

The Sixers are definitely tanking, which they should have done from the beginning instead of building first round exit playoff teams.

I like the trade for the 6ers...getting New Orleans 2014 1st in a much better draft seems like a great pull to me...and I like Noel also

Sixers are definitely tanking for wiggins. If by some miracle they make the playoffs, their pick goes to miami. In this upcoming talent laden draft, they definitely want that pick.

i hope boston is tanking for a top 3 pick also in next years draft...bill simmons complaining about what boston got in return no guaranteed lotto picks for pierce garnett and rivers makes no sense to me...it's not like those players had any real high end value anyways...and who knows by 2016 or at least 2018 the nets core will be pretty old barring changes and we could well get a high lotto pick out of it...provided those 1's aren't protected...

it was time for boston to move on and rebuild...hell it was time last offseason

I wouldn't be surprised if rondos traded real soon. Are u a bigger football or basketball fan? You do have hoops in your user name. Lol

Along with the draft picks they got, the Sixers also freed up a decent amount of money. I think they will go cheap and young to save the money to go along with the draft picks for next year when the draft and free agent classes are supposed to be much better than this year.

Let me stop you right there, the Sixers are not making the playoffs. They probably won't even be close.

Yeah. I don't think there is a shot in hell they make the playoffs even though I think 6-8 are up for grabs. Boston will probably be out. Atlanta might be losing josh smith and who knows if the bucks look the same. Wouldn't be surprised to see Toronto or even Cleveland sneak in there. Depends what free agency holds. Probably should start an Nba free agency thread for the upcoming offseason. Lol

football...i live nfl football...i can watch any pro game and be thoroughly entertained...that's not the case with basketball and hockey...unless it's the postseason then i can stomach em all...

and i wouldn't mind a rondo trade at all...that said this last version of the celtics beat the knicks in the postseason with rondo

i'm worried bostons gonna end up with josh smith...ainge seems to have this thing for him...why??? i don't know...he takes horrible shots at bad times and thinks he can shoot the 3...and isn't a great on ball defender...more athlete than anything else who could be nasty if he just cared...and he doesn't

hell no

Our Sixers made some bold moves last night PhinsPhan. I am listening to 97.5 the Fan in Philly, and most of the reaction is positive. Sam Hinkie, the Sixer's new GM, knows it will take a few years to compete. I am ok dealing Jrue, with what we got back in return and we cleared up some cap space. I like the PG from Syracuse. I also like the Kazemi pick as well. The guy can really rebound and play D. We may only win 20 games this upcoming season, but we will be all set in 2014. I think Noel will show why many felt he could be the #1 pick. He just has to rest his knee and bulk up...I think he is only around 210 pounds. I also like his Kid and Play do!!!!

GO SIXERS!!!

And I can't say I'm real disappointed. They are finally enacting the mindset that you have to be bad before you are good because for many years they were content with being a 7-8 seed and losing in the first round.

I could see Toronto getting in there, but don't forget about the Wizards. I know they've been a punch line for many years, but they finally have a nice foundation. With Wall, Beal, and now Porter, they have some nice players. Something people forget is that once Wall came back last year, they were basically a .500 team.

Once free agency starts I'll probably end up making a thread for it.

When I first heard of the deal last night, my knee jerk reaction was "what are they doing?" Once I settled down and heard what they were getting back, it made a little more sense. Going into this offseason, my thinking that anybody could be moved except Jrue, but Hinkie obviously didn't have the same mindset. They want to go into full rebuilding mode and not having the 10-13 pick every year, which they probably would have had if they kept Jrue.

I think Carter-Williams can develop into a good point guard, but his outside shot has to get much better because it's pretty bad right now. I don't know much about the kid from Oregon, but I've heard positive things about him.

The Sixers are definitely playing for next offseason in the draft and free agency. I think they still make some moves this offseason, but I don't expect any big signings until next year. In hopes of a good future, it looks like us fans are going to have suffer through a couple rough years of Sixers basketball.

Agree about josh smith. He has the worst shot selection of mostly anybody in the nba. He's efficient around the rim but he thinks he's a jump shooter. He also wants max contract. Yikes to whatever team wastes a max contact slot on this guy.

Yep. The wiz are definitely a team to watch too. Nice thing is that there isn't much waiting time between the end of the season, the draft and free agency. Nets/Knicks should have a nice rivalry next year. I can easily see a 4/5 first round matchup between the two
