Official Free Agency and Rumors Thread

if you get the results in Miami he gave us in NY you'll be signing his praises. every GM makes bad moves but he put together rosters that had chances at multiple SBs, the last legitimate chance Miami had at a SB was probably 1994.

You mean the 6th overall pick in the draft? Don't think we'll be singing his praises.

Not business as usual? We've signed the highest paid free agent 3 years running...it's business as usual. And don't be surprised if Albert gets hurt again this season when we cut him next off season to save money. So goes the cycle of trying to fix the roster in free agency instead of the draft.

Does a Tannehill-friendly, Lazor offense personnel team have no OGs to block for the QB. Is it designed for him to throw the ball from his butt?

If we're looking to the draft to fill those needs then fine...but don't expect a WR or ILB and a starting OG plus another OG for depth to fall to us with no 3rd round pick. They've created a roster with too many holes to fill and not enough depth to finish strong.

Ya and I don't expect to be in the Superbowl either....

Highest priced and worth every penny....thats one difference....and I love it even if it didn't work, it brings excitement for a change

Tannehill who I've also questioned has improved immensely and can not be throw under the bus at this stage.... Hes developing nicely and has brought a unique athleticism which has paid dividends .... I know just not fast enough for you ....But we did put up some good numbers offensively

Damn man give the FO a shot, What, 2 weeks into it. It aint happening over night give it a damn chance to see then bitch if its not working but to bitch at this early stage is just silly

If he gets the team to the AFC conference champion game, you correct I will be signing his praise. I am confident there will be people on the board complaining, but I will not be one of them.

It's not silly...I've seen this movie before and I know the ending. It's like going to watch the movie Titanic...here's a spoiler for you...the boat sinks at the end.

By the way...high priced and worth every penny was said about Mike Wallace too when he was signed. It was said about Brandon Albert when he was signed and it will be said about the next guy.

As far as excitement...some people get excited about little things that happen in the off season...the Jets with Rex Ryan were famous for it...I get excited about wins...build a roster for the long haul of the season and win games...this roster is not built for the long haul or to win games right now and from the free agency stand point...there's not much left that will make an impact. Stefen Wisniewski would be the only free agent lineman that I think could help. There's nothing at linebacker, nothing at safety and a few old and in decline WRs.

You aren't being reasonable at all.

I'm expecting Dallas Thomas and Billy Turner to turn into Larry Allen and Logan Mankins for us at guard . . . . and Taylor/Davis, year 3 they become Madison/Surtain. Misi will finally be healthy and be that Ray Lewis like MIKE, and everybody we bring in will be 100% healthy all year, including the guys who have never been healthy in their careers. Hell even Sturgis is going 30/30 on field goals this year. . .

People really go overboard on the lack of competent guard play.

OG is the least important offensive line postion. Tackle play was the detriment, even with that Tannehill had a damn solid season.

Guard play will improve with Turner.

right now dallas thomas is a starter at offensive guard...and that's a failure on the front office part...unless they get it in the draft

$27 mil in cap space and nothing left to spend it on...

There wasn't anything worth a damn at LB, S , or WR that would be an improvement other than Cobb, who wait for it, Miami attempted to sign.

Wasn't much in G either. Besides Franklin, who got damn near 50 mill. Which is to high for a guard.

he wasn't our GM this past season so I am not sure what that has to do w/ anything.

That roster...those results are a direct effect of Mike Tannenbaum's years of service. Just like we're still paying for Ireland's terrible mistakes and poor player acquisition. You can thank Tannenbaum for the 6th overall pick.

I love it how some people complain when we sign free agents and say we need to build through the draft, then complain when we don't sign free agents and start an unproven draft pick at a position of need.

no it's not. he hasn't been GM since 2012, that's a LONG time ago.

And most of us already know that...which means the best course of action was the draft...but, wait for it, we traded away a 3rd round pick which would have been perfect to address one of WR, LB or OG.

And OG being least important position? Tell that to Tannehill and our 31st ranked pass blocking O-line or to Miller and the 29th ranked run blocking O-line. If the guard play would have been better we would have survived the Albert injury. As it was Albert was covering up a lot of awful Guard play...again, depth on the O-line was bad last year...it hasn't improved, it got worse.

What's the vision? I don't see it. What exactly have we done and what's the vision? We dumped a bunch of salary so is the vision to save money? We've upgraded one position with Suh and lost a lot of depth. So is the vision to pick in the top 10 next year in the draft? I don't see vision here, I see a lot of splash with the signing of Suh and trading away Wallace and Ellerbe but no improvement...actually the opposite is happening. This is Mike Tannenbaum...lots of moving parts without actually getting better. Keep the franchise name in the news during the off season but not really moving towards anything.

We're into the 2nd tier free agents now. This is where we signed Shelley Smith and Cortland Finnegan, those guys didn't exactly help us win any games. Tannenbaum and Hickey said the draft was important but their actions show that it's clearly not and that's why this franchise fails...consistently...it's the only consistent thing it does.

trust i am not saying it looks great as of now moving into 2015... but once again it takes time. we were in a hole financially with awful contracts and awful players behind those contracts.... we did necessary moves to help fix that, and we actually look all right there now moving forward. no team can ever fix everything in FA, especially one FA.

we still got moves to make, and the draft upcoming. but the vision i am thinking of (and hoping on) is with the Lazor offense, expanding of, and building with youthful players to work within. is it going to be dominant right away, no.... i have mentioned on it in many posts and threads before... we got kids and Stills here now that need to still work and prove themselves. but this all could start leaning towards a positive future.

its not an easy thing to do... but i am saying all of this looking beyond 2015... once again agreeing with you the roster isnt anything to fully be excited about at this time. and with your Philbin comment, i agree... might be gone. but if we really just completely start fresh and ridding everything we have done this year.... then what can i say. thats something i cannot predict fully. we will see. but what we are slowly putting together now i am not angry about, but yes is one that needs to be proven still.

You've never heard me complain about not signing a free agent. Look up my posts. I wish we would stop signing free agents. We've been doing it since Shula's last few years with the Dolphins and it hasn't worked yet.
