if the team knew they were gonna part with wallace and attempt to trade for a speed wr to replace him (or draft it even) which it's obvious now they did know this and they knew they were gonna be freeing up cap with let's face it was obvious moves from the get go they should have did the no brainer thing once the suh thing was done on sunday and beelined to orlando franklin...hell he signed pretty cheap anyways

then we wouldnt be sitting here with dallas thomas and a 2nd year unproven player (with tons of potential admittedly) only as interior options and jack squat for depth on the interior...right now we got nothing but money to spend and nothing to spend it on...and plenty of holes

la ell collins looks better and better every day top pick the way things are going...especially in our division with those physical fronts...

i just wish this team would be PROACTIVE instead of reactive all the time...

It's not silly...I've seen this movie before and I know the ending. It's like going to watch the movie Titanic...here's a spoiler for you...the boat sinks at the end.

By the way...high priced and worth every penny was said about Mike Wallace too when he was signed. It was said about Brandon Albert when he was signed and it will be said about the next guy.

As far as excitement...some people get excited about little things that happen in the off season...the Jets with Rex Ryan were famous for it...I get excited about wins...build a roster for the long haul of the season and win games...this roster is not built for the long haul or to win games right now and from the free agency stand point...there's not much left that will make an impact. Stefen Wisniewski would be the only free agent lineman that I think could help. There's nothing at linebacker, nothing at safety and a few old and in decline WRs.

i agree here... Wis is really the only guy I want in FA. all the ILB signed back with their old teams, and i dont want any WRs in FA really at all.
hasnt been a great FA player wise all in all

And most of us already know that...which means the best course of action was the draft...but, wait for it, we traded away a 3rd round pick which would have been perfect to address one of WR, LB or OG.

And OG being least important position? Tell that to Tannehill and our 31st ranked pass blocking O-line or to Miller and the 29th ranked run blocking O-line. If the guard play would have been better we would have survived the Albert injury. As it was Albert was covering up a lot of awful Guard play...again, depth on the O-line was bad last year...it hasn't improved, it got worse.

Wait you bash Tannebaum for his terrible drafting then bash him for trading a 3rd round pick for a starting WR? Based off your opinions of his drafting we made out like bandits.

I agree we still have holes, with OG being a gaping one. That's an indictment on the FO.. But I'm also not one to sit and say a 3rd round pick is a guaranteed starter..especially as a rookie.

You can't have good at every postion, if there is gonna be a weak point in an oline, g is the place for it.

That 3rd was used for a WR, that has actually proven he can play. Not a promising guy that disappears after year 2.

the only thing that stills trade did was allow you not to have to use pick 47 (in this class) on a speed wr replacement for wallace role...that's pretty much it...

but i also don't get why you have to replace wallace with similar skillset...you still are getting small catch radius and finesse in the replacement...and little to no red zone impact or mismatch win ability...this has to be what lazor prefers for his offense though otherwise when they were replacing wallace they wouldnt have been looking for similar skill set

You've never heard me complain about not signing a free agent. Look up my posts. I wish we would stop signing free agents. We've been doing it since Shula's last few years with the Dolphins and it hasn't worked yet.

The problem is there is a major hole still at LT. Albert is improving but still hasn't given a return and to assume he is going to step and play at the same level as he did before the injury is not wise.

So that guard problem we are all talking about becomes amplified like it was last season. Miami needs a guard and then address the rest via the draft.

We will have to wait and see how they fill LB G S.... you know as in wait and see,

" It's like going to watch the movie Titanic...here's a spoiler for you...the boat sinks at the end."

Ya, and your holding on to the anchor rope... let it play out ...... see how it plays out , there is the possibility of being surprised...

In all seriousness, I get where datruth is coming from. This is a sickening revolving door and it just gets old.

Hoops made a good point . . . this team is very "reactive" instead of being proactive. We never take the initiative to make moves without having others make moves first or not seeing the correct set of moves.

We are making free agency our baby, and that NEVER works . . . and we aren't even good at it. We aren't good at drafting either. Lessons haven't been learned and percentages say otherwise.

So yea, maybe I'll be surprised and hit the lotto one day . . . . it's less of a gamble than putting money down on this team changing the way it does things.

Also this FA period is the best, what I mean is not stupidly spending, we've had in awhile.

Signing Suh, isnt a typical FA. He's worth it.

I do like the Suh signing, and the cap management looks reasonable . . . but I look at this roster and I don't see a plan and we are trading away draft picks and there isn't much of anything in free agency.

Biggest problem with this team is the lack of depth do to the missed draft picks over the years . . . you don't improve on that by having tons of cap space, 3rd tier free agents and less draft picks.

It's valid reasoning.

This team has never fully "gotten it". We draft like ****. Take Pouncey a C at 15, a RT at 19, spend big money on a LT and yet we still have 2 holes at guard because we can't succesfully draft oline in the mid rounds.

The Suh signing has a lot to do with Stephen Ross building a buzz around the "newly renovated" SunLife stadium and probably future construction ventures in the area that would benefit from a Super Bowl . . . or whatever. There's more there and honestly I don't care . . . . but I feel the best interest of the football team isn't always being looked at.

Like always, we'll see . . . but this team is at the point where they need to earn the fans confidence with results on the field, not perceived offseason results.

I agree on suh, and at the time I agreed on Wallace. It was obvious that we needed a player like Wallace to stretch the defense and poor drafting by jeff Ireland forced our hand on dipping into the free agency pool. Perhaps if we'd kept teddy bear we could've had the thread without spending the dollars and relied more upon better drafts. Suh however isn't someone you can hope to draft every year, even at the top of the draft you can't predict a player like him. Now, as far as the rest of free agency goes, we haven't picked up guys that I completely expect to be great, they are just gap fillers, and if they work out great, if they don't, well what have we really lost?

Dawg

I felt the same way and being a fan since Joe Aurer ran back the first kick off, have slowly been demoralize year after year after year and truthfully was almost spent on the Dolphins doing anything. But I now believe we have a better more perceptive FO and will give them a reasonable amount of time to see what their plans actually are (more than 2 weeks lol ). You guys could be right but to make the call this quick leaves me with little faith in your opinions..........let them have a shot and atleast see what they bring to the field in Sept. A personally I love Suh, jettisoning Wallace, Stills, Cameron, McCain in the first week.....

Holy crap. There is not even a practice now for months let alone a game and people want the depth chart filled out. FA is not even a week old. Relax folks.

Just remember who's coaching these eventual depth chart bodies. Expect a lot of UDFA's . . . . Joe likes a young group, they haven't developed that "objection to authority" so early in their careers.

Ain't nobody left in free agency worth mentioning to be honest.
