Official Free Agency and Rumors Thread

Its being reported that the browns top priority is signing clay too so it sounds like there will be a bidding war between those two

Clay is a very good young TE, if we over pay for someone else's DT we could have over paid one of our own.....I would have tried to sign him for less with more guarantees on a shorter contract.....the guy has good hands, runs good routes and can run after the catch....he will help Buffalo if they ever get a QB.....

Congrats Clay, I enjoyed watching you grow as a Dolphin over the years.....good luck with Buffalo except when you play us......

Well I doubt we do a whole lot more in free agency. I would've liked to us pony up a bit more money and go after Culliver. Maybe we still try to sign Patrick Robinson to compete with our guys too...

I really hope we are looking at guards... preferably Wisniewski. Would be a good fit... I hope we just don't sign crappy players just to say we addressed a need. I can live with McCain since he was pretty cheap and apparently plays the slot well...

whats our cap situation currently??

I can't imagine a fine steak house in buffalo. So damn cold up there.[/Q]

Friar's Table is a pretty darn good restaurant, if I must say so myself.

It's all about Duffs there!!!

We did the same thing with big Paul, franchised him, and worked out a long term deal before he went to Atlanta. I am not saying Clay is worth 8.3 mil a year, but it was going to cost us seven anyway. Saving the 1.3 opened the door for rr. I am no GM but I read here that Buforillo wanted clay badly. I think if we franchised him mr. Foot would have still got him and we would have received a first rounder. I just always liked Clay and darn he was a player we actually developed. I just hope Jill's way overpay for him. Boy do I hate Ryan!

Buffalo doesn't have a 1st round pick, so they would not have been able to get him if franchise tag was given.

Bucs will release S Dashon Goldson.
They've found a replacement in Chris Conte. The move saves $4 million, but also leaves behind $4 million in dead money. Signed to a five-year, $41.25 million contract in March 2013, Goldson was an abject failure both of his seasons in Tampa, performing as one of the league's worst safeties. That, coupled with his advancing age (31 in September), made him a no-brainer release for a team that's performed comically poorly in free agency in recent years. Despite his rough play the past two seasons, there should be no shortage of teams willing to take a flier on a player who was a first-team All-Pro in 2012.
