Official Free Agency and Rumors Thread

The only things I worry about, other than Dallas Thomas in the line are..... .

Mccain, Tripp, Billy Turner and Michael Thomas NOT starting.

Jarvis Landry? A consistency concern? If that's our worry, we are in great shape!!!

I have to say that as much as the Tannenbaum hire initially made me angry, he's handling his business very well so far.

Let's see the results on the field, though.

What's he doing exactly?

Everything so far is Dennis Hickey. Remember, that GM guy who's job it is since day one is being in charge of all player transaction's, draft and free agency?

Tannenbaum is Ross's mouth piece and double checks all his thoughts and decicions.

Don't get all this sudden "ooooh, Tannenbaum, he is rockin'" stuff. Like Hickey said, he had been working on Suh and Stills for quite a while. In fact, they started juggling a plan for Suh if he wasn't franchised or transitioned long before the season ended!!

Tannenbaum wasn't even here.

Yeah, those moves don't scream Tannenbaum to me.. That guy made awful knee-jerk decisions in New York. These seem very calculated moves. This may be all Hickey with some input from Tanne and co?

Who really knows who is responsible, maybe one, maybe both, pure speculation.

Ok, keep believing that.

This is definitely Tannenbaum . . . but he's no fool. He gets the credit if it works and Hickey takes the fall if it doesn't.

Hickey and Joe Philbin are getting railroaded by this guy. They better win something because the only secure job in Davie right now is Mike Tannebaum's.

what awful, knee jerk reactions did he make? Tebow? what else? these moves definitely scream Tannebaum to me.

Yeah this is all Tannenbaum...he's killing this team right now.

Anyone who thinks we have a better team now than last year is kidding themselves. We're much worse. We have no depth anywhere and not one position of strength...not one single unit is better. Some may say we're better at TE if we keep Clay and you can think that but in the 8 seasons between Clay and Cameron they have one season in which they played all 16 games. Dolphins are going to build a two TE offense around two guys that can't stay healthy. Offensive line is a mess with no depth, we only have 2 RBs worth a crap in Miller and Williams and Williams has a long way to go. No backup QB. WR corp outside of Landry and Stills is inexperienced and inconsistent (if Matthews was consistent he would have been on the field more...don't kid yourself...he's been here 3 years and can't get on the field). D-line outside of Suh is underwhelming. Our DEs are OK rushing the passer, not great since Wake kind of fell off last year and OV only had 6.5 sacks I think but both are not good against the run. And we're all hoping Fede or Jordan step up as a backup to OV. Linebacking corp sucks and we only have 4 linebackers when you need 7 for depth and special teams. CBs are bad...Grimes and I'm not sure what we have in McCain who's a slot corner they probably plan on putting outside and two injured players that can't get on the field or stay on the field. Safety we have one...Reshad Jones.

This is an awful roster and you traded away a 3rd round pick so you have only 6 picks in the draft. You want to talk about queasy? This roster makes me queasy...actually it's making me sick.

Wow, the season must be starting tomorrow! Not to say that you will be happy with any future moves but you could wait longer than 2 weeks into FA to complain about the roster.

This is what I'm seeing with this team . . . .a lot of hope. A lot of people looking at fantasy sheets and thinking it's an easy transition. Looking at injured guys and think they'll all of a sudden become guys who don't get injured and produce like they did when they weren't injured. Expecting young guys to step up and become studs because another young guy did on another team.

Maybe if the stars align it all works out, but this is a bunch of bull**** to expect.

i see what you mean datruth and kdawg... i am not saying officially at this moment we have gotten better overall as a roster/team yet. there is much to prove. but what i do think i can say is that its a start at this time moving into our future, with possibly an actual vision.

now i was expecting Wallace to be with us to help development and moving our offense forward, and i think its making it harder for that to happen without him and for our youth and Tannehill. but having Stills does help that a bit, but he still has to come in and number one work hard and prove himself. he isnt a definite yet at all. Landry coming into only year 2 as well, but i love the kid for whom he is and what he offers... Matthews this is your chance to prove, you have to now!!! we do need another rookie to come in and do the same as all three of these guys... tough for a young core to do this without a Wallace across the field.

otherwise we are lacking depth at many other positions too... but this all can be pieced together (we just entered second week of FA) and once again this is the first year i will say where we really are making moves into this... ridding the junk we have had and awful contracts we have had holding us back more. it is almost like a step back rebuild right now, it'll take some time.

Suh was a great move that should help us out long time in many ways. we just gotta keep building around him. and remember we do have youht there that possibly could start stepping in and contributing, or even playing really well. rotationally is okay, we will see overall.... need that Mike more than anything though 100%

once again i agree with you... but it takes time, and i do think they are schematically piecing things together for our future as a whole, as a team. its not going to be easy though.

I said knee-jerk decisions.

Trade up for Sanchez
Trading Leon Washington when he was good
Getting Lito Sheppard? lol
Trading for Brett Favre LOL
Drafting Vernon freaking Gholston
Signing of Burress and Maybin
Releasing Cotchery

I could keep listing some if you like...

Oh and hows former 1st rounders Kyle Wilson and Ducasse doing in New york? Oh yeah they suck and are not signed to a team. Tannenbaum was worse than Ireland...

It sure is easy to pick apart draft decisions after the fact, and Tannenbaum certainly wasn't worse than Ireland. The Jets made it to two AFC championships with his squad and the Dolphins haven't sniffed the playoffs. Also, Ireland's mess took YEARS to fix. In fact, Tannenbaum (and Hickey, in all fairness) are just finally cleaning up the last of his mess THIS year!

What's the vision? I don't see it. What exactly have we done and what's the vision? We dumped a bunch of salary so is the vision to save money? We've upgraded one position with Suh and lost a lot of depth. So is the vision to pick in the top 10 next year in the draft? I don't see vision here, I see a lot of splash with the signing of Suh and trading away Wallace and Ellerbe but no improvement...actually the opposite is happening. This is Mike Tannenbaum...lots of moving parts without actually getting better. Keep the franchise name in the news during the off season but not really moving towards anything.

We're into the 2nd tier free agents now. This is where we signed Shelley Smith and Cortland Finnegan, those guys didn't exactly help us win any games. Tannenbaum and Hickey said the draft was important but their actions show that it's clearly not and that's why this franchise fails...consistently...it's the only consistent thing it does.
