Boy did Jawaan Taylor really drop. Someone's gonna get good value for him in the second round, depending on why he actually fell in the first place.

Does anyone know if he had any red flags? I can't be the weight issue he had before losing it all can it?

From Tony Pauline, Silva had it also.

Major medical red flags on Taylor as we first reported three weeks ago. 1) Knee 2) Back 3) Concerns over wild weight fluctuations- was close to 380lbs at times at Florida... Several teams took him off their board as a medical reject

Rd2 - The "Forgotten Man" - Chauncey Gardner. A versatile DB, that much like Minkah can play FS,CB or the slot. He, X, and Minkah would give us a Hell of a secondary

S Chauncey Gardner-Johnson Florida 6-0 208lbs.

BEST TRAIT – Range/Versatility

WORST TRAIT – Consistency

RED FLAGS – Occasional effort/physicality issues have flared up in past, but new coaching seems to have flipped a switch.

Gardner-Johnson is the perfect modern NFL safety except for one thing: all-around consistency as a player. If you looked at his 2017 tape, you’d have seen a train wreck as a run defender and tackler, but a promising playmaker in coverage. This year, he was a little inconsistent in coverage as a slot corner, but remarkably improved in his physicality and tackling.

The reality is that there will probably always be some level of variance to Gardner-Johnson as a player, but I don’t think his lows are that low if the tackling is cleaned up as it was this year, and his highs are pretty dang high. When you consider all that he can bring to a defense with his combination of size, athleticism, range, ball skills and versatility, CGJ is a slight gamble that I would feel just fine taking in Round 2. He can help a defense right away, whether as a true free safety or in a nickel corner capacity, and still has the upside to become a more consistent playmaker as his career continues.https://thedraftnetwork.com/2019/01/03/2019-nfl-draft-player-profile-chauncey-gardner-johnson/

Rd3 - Max Sharping. Can play OG or OT.

OT Max Scharping N. Illinois 6-6 327lbs.

Draft Projection
Rounds 2-3
NFL Comparison
Ricky Wagner
Overview
Ascending tackle prospect with impressive combination of size and functional athletic ability. Scharping has the ability to handle bull-rushers and finds ways to recover and get guys blocked after getting beat early. However, NFL rushers will look to exploit the inconsistent footwork and balance that shows up when his pass sets become hurried and unfocused against true edge speed. He might get a shot at left tackle, but might be best-suited on the right side where he has the potential to become an above-average starter.
Strengths
  • Has experience at both left and right tackle
  • High achiever in the classroom and said to pick up info quickly
  • Tall with well-proportioned mass and thickly muscled arms
  • Adequate ability to mirror
  • Changes pass-set depth and landmarks based upon opponent's speed
  • Has upper-body power to muscle and press edge rushers past the quarterback
  • Plays to his length with consistent arm extension to neutralize edge moves
  • Inside post-hand stabs and thwarts inside moves
  • Can brace and anchor after giving early ground
  • Possesses mass potential and power to become grinder as run blocker
  • Fits and drives through down blocks to clear the run lane of debris
  • Choppy steps and good base width as base blocker
Weaknesses
  • Pass-protection fundamentals in need of improvement
  • Comes out of stance with weight too far outside
  • Quick to open outside shoulder in pass sets, exposing an inside path
  • Pass slides feature long gallops rather than choppy, controlled feet
  • Fear of edge speed could make him succeptiable to inside counters
  • Needs to eliminate hitch before striking with his wide, outside hand
  • Late hands get challenged and discarded, forcing re-sets
  • Has a tendency to linger too long on first block on combos and against twists
  • Doesn't sustain run blocks like he should

It's scary how far Taylor has dropped due to several medical issues. Glad Miami is staying away from him. McCoy and Jenkins are 2 guys I'd think could be on Miami's radar at OC for pick #48, if still available?

My big board

1. Byron Murphy, CB
2. Erik McCoy, C
3. DK Metcalf, WR
4. Greedy Williams, CB
5. Rock Ya-Sin, CB
6. Drew Lock, QB
7. Cody Ford, G
8. Dalton Risner, G
9. Elgton Jenkins, C
10. Lonnie Johnson, CB
11. Julian Love, CB
12. Khalen Saunders, DT
13. Chase Winovich, DE
14. AJ Brown, WR
15. Deebo Samuel, WR
16. JoeJuan Williams, CB

So... Jawaan Taylor is good at football?

In your opinion. His worst film came in his best games. He has a ton of question marks and bad knees. Definitely not our kinda 1st round pick. Plus he’s pigeon holed at RT, can’t really play guard.

Think a less athletic Juwuan James.

Another guy I would like us to consider day 2 is Charles Omenihu.

Long, versatile. Can play DE or OLB. Very similar build to a lot of NE lineman. Also played with Wilkins growing up.
