**OFFICIAL NFL Draft Thread**

I dont understand the pick when there were a few BPA guys out there that could have helped our offense.

I felt that guy from Oregon State Brandon Browner would have been a better pick if we were looking at secondary.

So...is Daniels a CB or a S?

Am I the only one who thinks it isn't an accident that Nick is going for guys who are associated with multiple positions on defense?

Scouting Report: Travis Daniels
Vital Statistics
Position: CB School: LSU
Height: 6-1 Weight: 194 lbs.
Daniels had planned to redshirt as a true freshman, but he was forced into action versus Tennessee in the SEC Championship game in 2001, when an injury to teammate Randall Gay left LSU short at the defensive back spots. In that game, Daniels broke up two passes, and also saw some action against Illinois in the Sugar Bowl. In 2002, he saw some action in nickel and dime packages, but he was slowed by a hamstring injury for much of the season. That year, he played in five games and finished with three tackles and a pass breakup. Daniels started the first six games of his junior year at free safety before moving to his natural cornerback position for the final eight. He finished the season with 58 tackles, a team-leading 26 pass breakups, and two interceptions, one of which he returned 48 yards for a TD. He also recorded 6.5 tackles for a loss and two sacks. Daniels is a very instinctive corner with great route recognition. He's smart, savvy, and will cut off routes and positions to make plays. He does not have great closing speed, and he needs to improve on his footwork. He attacks the ball when he sees it, but can struggle at times in off coverage. He's a solid tackler, times his blitzes nicely, and can play any position in the defensive backfield.

Strengths: Has good size...Very intelligent football player...Displays good technique and does all the little things...Has good ball skills...Versatile and has played both cornerback and safety.
Weaknesses: Lacks elite speed...Is inconsistent...May have benefited from playing on a very talented defense...Has had some nagging injuries throughout his career.
Notes: Overshadowed by teammate Corey Webster but a nice prospect in his own right...Underrated player who could emerge as a big school sleeper.

I wish we went offense the entire draft. D was addressed during free agency. Our secondary is the ? on D so I do like a CB draft, but not with the talent that was out there.

The message here is that we're doing okay on O. Our OL will be fine (or it better be), and we have very nice players at RB, WR, and TE now.

This draft is about shoring up the defense for the future. I can endorse that strategy.

Daniels did run a 4.4 40 though according to Kiper, so his speed can't be that much of a liability.

Man, I'm disappointed. Daniels had a 5th round grade on him. Saban either really loves the guy or didn't think he'd last beyond rd. 4.

I was sooooo hoping for Elton Brown. He would've brought some nice attitude to the line. Or even Adrian McPherson, even though he has questions surrounding him.

I'm frustrated...The team needs more O power, not more D. The D wasn't the problem.

It seems to me that Saban is doing his best to make the D "his". He's overstocking on DEs and CBs.
