We cant depend on parker either. Drat 1st or second rd pick wr will be a priority time for hope is over

I also think that is a telling coincidence that the two most financially destroyed teams in the NFL are the last two teams desperately waving three years' worth of top draft picks at Houston in a sad attempt to remain relevant.

The Falcons are about to take a 50M dead cap hit on their aging QB when they could have drafted a young QB last year. But they had to take a TE... hoo boy! Sadly, they don't have much on that roster and if they swing this deal, they won't have any draft picks either.

The Saints are an absolute disaster, 29M in dead cap already this year, plus they have restructured 11 of their 12 highest paid players, pushing tens of millions of dollars into 2023 and beyond. They are desperate for young players, and they just are not coming. They've signed exactly ONE FA this year... one. Meanwhile... we're up to about 15 or so?

Yup... Watson might get them into the playoffs, but this isn't a contending team, and their future looks even more bleak. Houston sure is going to enjoy spending all those draft picks.

FA has several different purposes, not just the one you want.

One of the ways that FA can be used is to fill holes and shop for undervalued players (like when we got Ogbah), while you build the bulk of your team through the draft. We've gone this route. I knew we would; I even suggested as much repeatedly before FA began-- knowing full well that the crybaby squad would scream every time that an expensive player went to someone else.

It was an easy prediction, like that water would be wet.
So when does this stragety pay off??? From the way things are playing out their are 5 or 6 teams that are going to be really good for 4 to 5 more years.

If I’m the dolphins I’m all in on armstead and here is why. Armstead is good for about 13 games. Usually misses between 4 to 6 games per season. I’ll take 13 games from an elite tackle , because there really isn’t any other option and this season is important for Tua. I would also sign brown or fisher as my backup when armstead misses games.

This resets every year.

For proof of this, look at how KC failed this year. They spent so much on weapons that they had to allow several linemen to walk away... and that beat them.

Can I promise that a better financial strategy will produce a better result? No... but teams who have taken care of their cap like the Patriots, Packers, and Steelers have managed to remain competitive for decades.
While teams that overspend tend to crash and burn regularly.

The only thing tougher than winning is remaining on top and that's what I aspire to happen for the Dolphins. Blowing our stack on a bunch of mercenary free agents when we are unsure about our QB is ... well... nuts.

That was a lot to catch up on. Just checking in to make sure the sky was falling and that we aren't being aggressive enough cause every player wants to come here.
Or to see if we are too aggressive and spending too much money.

I'll just keep being patient and see what shapes up before camp.

Okay so then sign Duane Brown and all of a sudden you have a strong LT and Connor Williams at G abs the line is instantly better. You start building piece by piece, but enough of this draft scratch off lottery ticket team building approach. It hasn’t worked and most draft booms come in the second round anyway.
Duane brown??

37 year old player, not how you wanna do things.

As far as I’m concerned on what’s going on with tackle the answer is nothing. No one has been signed aside from moses. Everything is conjuncture right now so pump the brakes.

Not meant to be a permanent solution. One, two year deal at most. Age also shouldn't matter if the player can still play - case and point, 40 year old Andrew Whitworth being the left tackle for the Rams.

Sweet Jesus. ADAMS ONLY WANTED TO GO TO VEGAS. Carr was his college QB at Fresno State.

Stop. Just stop.
It seems people forget there’s 2 sides to free agency. The player has to also have interest in coming to this team. We get too used to playing Madden franchise, and just clicking on “sign player” and you automatically get him.

yes 10000000000x

Here’s the deal imo

1) I really like what Grier and co did with all our depth signings, that means something, the turnover if we didn’t sign them and having to teach that new depth a whole new system is detrimental to a team.. Keeping that continuity with your depth is real important and can impact the team and it’s results during a season.

I dont think any other team can say the same on the level we did.

I believe that’s gonna pay off.

Now, when you have units on your team that are the weakest links on the team then you need to address it.

Grier seems to believe in himself, enough where he’s like, I spent resources on the line, and I’ll be damned if im gonna replace them with the resources I have..

He’s doubling down….ok, that’s cool, but if it doesn’t work out, and your ego miss evaluated the situation, your going to the ****ing CFL to scout In Winnipeg..

That’s the reality, if this season we don’t see dramatic improvement in the line and the line he built doesnt protect this Qb ( when we know that’s what this Qb needs to flourish) then I’m seriously gonna lose it.He better be fired so fast that his ballcap he wears will turn backwards.

With this free agency, and if it ends up this way, Grier has put himself in the hottest of seats.
