Woods is overpaid. He's thirty, has never been more than a WR2, and carries a 13.5M salary for the next two years (it goes up in years three and four).

On the bright side, almost none of this money is guaranteed and he'd be easy to cut. This trade looks like a rental to me.

BTW... Parker makes less than half this amount.

I'd take the risk on Armstead... yes, I know he is fragile, but with so many young Tackles on our roster, I think we'd be able the weather the storm of a couple of missed games, and I believe it would help our young guys to have a guy like this on the roster.

As a bonus, signing Armstead would mean that we'd be unlikely to draft a lineman (other than a Center).

Well, Woods will be a number two receiver in Tennessee. He’s not that overpaid in today’s wide receiver market.

Considering the depth of WRs available in the draft (this year and every year), I think that this is a poor return on your dollars. But, then again, that's why I called this deal a rental. I think it's a one year deal to give them a chance while the rookie they SHOULD draft gets his feet under him.

What’s the freaking obsession with return guys? Kickoff returns are almost obsolete and there is maybe an average of four punt returns a game. I understand that you don’t want Waddle returning punts, but come on. Enough of churning the bottom of the roster. You win in this league with top end talent.

Surprisingly, I am not hearing of any teams showing interest in Mayfield, making offers, etc...
Most teams have already made QB plans. Even those looking to the draft already have a "bridge" in place. Baker may find himself in a position where he has to accept a backup role if he wants to be on a team next year.

Yep, it's much more cost effective to draft WRs, even if it takes a couple picks to find a good one.

Which teams would he be an upgrade for?

...and it is also why we maintain a guy like Parker who makes so little compared to the market.

His salary this year (and next year) is only 5.7m each year with an opportunity to make another 500K each year in playing time.

He stands a much better chance of being kept on a team than a guy like Robert Woods who is actually a year older and carries almost triple that salary.

After further consideration, perhaps NO might be a place he could come in and start.

That's been my position as well. I'm not in the "Oh my god, free agency was a failure if we don't get him" camp, but I'd take the risk. As far as the draft goes, I could see Alec Lindstrom being a target due to the BC connection.
