I mean I can't say they got better till they get better now can I? On paper you look correct, but they also all lost draft picks, cap space, etc. We'll see at the end of the year. The past decade hasn't really been kind to the AFC west if you recall. The Chargers have been set in an eternity of mediocrity, Denver had a short stint with Manning and the Raiders have perpetually sucked all out.

What I'm saying is you seem to be hell bent on getting those splash players in an effort to be a better team, when the fact is this team has much deeper problems than one player would fix. I'm sure you aren't going to sit here and tell me Adams or Wilson and everything it took to get them would fix this team now are you?
No, I don’t think we are in the position where an Adams or Wilson or Mack would fix the team. Thats where my frustration lies, that we can’t get to the point where an Adams or Wilson or Mack helps us to keep up with the other contenders.

We had all this money going in and instead of spending it on 5-6 truly impactful players, not necessarily the biggest names available, we have spent it on 15 players, 14 of which I don’t see moving the needle at all for us. I get that free agency isn’t over yet, I’m just not a fan of what we have done so far. I don’t think we have made any real upgrades from a talent perspective other than Conner Williams and maybe adding Bridgewater as our backup QB. I guess time will tell about the moves we made and will still make.

Understandable.

I don't know what you guys think but I'm still a bit unsure on the wr's we have ie. Parker & Williams. I would like to see us try and get Laviska Shenault from the Jags he's fairly quick, big bodied and would be a good blocking wr in our scheme maybe we would have to give up a 4th for him but I think he'd be worth it, also still on a rookie contract

He is under contract for a Hell of a lot less than the 17-20 mil some of these guys are going to want. I believe he was at 10 mil on his deal? That is why we should have given up as little as a 6th round pick. What part is not correct on that?
Dallas wanted a lot more than a 6th due to the cap hit they would have to take. No team was going to give up high picks for Collins. It was cheaper for Dallas to cut him.

Here’s the deal imo

1) I really like what Grier and co did with all our depth signings, that means something, the turnover if we didn’t sign them and having to teach that new depth a whole new system is detrimental to a team.. Keeping that continuity with your depth is real important and can impact the team and it’s results during a season.

I dont think any other team can say the same on the level we did.

I believe that’s gonna pay off.

Now, when you have units on your team that are the weakest links on the team then you need to address it.

Grier seems to believe in himself, enough where he’s like, I spent resources on the line, and I’ll be damned if im gonna replace them with the resources I have..

He’s doubling down….ok, that’s cool, but if it doesn’t work out, and your ego miss evaluated the situation, your going to the ****ing CFL to scout In Winnipeg..

That’s the reality, if this season we don’t see dramatic improvement in the line and the line he built doesnt protect this Qb ( when we know that’s what this Qb needs to flourish) then I’m seriously gonna lose it.He better be fired so fast that his ballcap he wears will turn backwards.

With this free agency, and if it ends up this way, Grier has put himself in the hottest of seats.
Where is the evidence of this? Grier is here for life unfortunately.

Just looking up Laviska Shenault draft profile and they say he played most positions on the offense which to me would be very intriguing especially with what Deebo did in San Francisco? Just saying but I'd give up a 4th or 5th for him more so than trading for Woods who's 29 now

It's not that I don't like Laviska he's just another young guy when we now have Waddle and Cedric Wilson as starters. I think we could use an experienced vet that has succeeded an offense very similar to McDaniels. Great blocker, great team guy and I think he'd allow us to move on from Parker.

I too would like Shenault. Liked him coming out of college, and his versatility could allow for a lot of creativity

Fair enough I respect your view on it I just thought he was more versatile and maybe have him come out of the backfield. Don't get me wrong Woods is a very good wr just thought Shenault gave us more versatility and different looks

Hey I was right, Robert Woods on the block after the Allen Robinson signing. I think hes a great undervalued player. Would love to get him on the cheap.

I think this is a good example of something many fans don't understand about free agency - no team is simply adding players. They are replacing them. The Rams didn't simply get much better by adding Robinson for nothing but money. They replaced OBJ and Woods with Robinson and whatever they get for the Woods trade. Look at all of it, and you'll see that they added an impact player and yet maybe they didn't get better at all.

It's gains and losses, both counts.

I'm sure there are many fans in Vegas right now who are like the kids on Christmas morning, jumping up and down with joy, celebrating the new shiny Playstation, without realizing that in the meantime, Santa took off with the flatscreen and the stereo.

I want Miami to upgrade the RT position too. It's an impact position, and we don't have young talent there. But I understand that this is a zero-sum game.

You decide:
Adams for 28M

OR

Connor Williams for 7M
Ogbah for 16M
Edmonds for 6M
Rookie 1st round pick (probable WR2)
Rookie 2nd round pick (probable ILB)

Whichever you choose, there's no way you can guarantee that one is better than the other. It's not an obvious thing, where everybody who disagrees with you is an idiot.

Depends on the team. For the Dolphins, it makes more sense to do what we did, but it doesn't really close the talent gap between us and the better teams in the AFC. The moves we have made are almost is an admission that Grier doesn't think we are ready to hang with the big boys, so we are signing quantity average talent or keeping our own average talent (Ogbah excluded), many of whom are on short, cheap contracts to buy us another year of doing whatever we are doing. It's like we are signing placeholders. Maybe it's the right strategy in the long run but it sure is uninspiring. As you said, time will tell.

For the Raiders, it makes more sense to do what they did. They were already a playoff team and their division has an arms race going on talent-wise, so they made a huge move for a player established as one of the best in the NFL. To me, the Raiders move will be the relatively more impactful one, because superstars typically make the bigger difference in the NFL.
