Official Poll: Tannehill is our QB for the next decade (Yes/No)

Are you in favor of Tannehill as a starter for several more seasons?

My point is, they all either sat the bench to learn for several years before they were exposed to the conundrum of the NFL, or they did no better than Tannehill has to this point. So, we can't yet definitively say that Tannehill won't be our Joe Montana or Peyton Manning. IMO, he's done as well to this point as I've seen any QB do (except Marino). Yup, he's made some horrendous mistakes. But, all QBs do. He will have to totally implode for the rest of this season before I'd say he's damaged goods and we should move on in our search for a franchise QB.
And I agree with that, but with the way the NFL is functioning nowadays in terms of the importance of the QB position, I think you have to move on in some cases before you've become definitive.

If you can't say the guy is definitively the answer after a certain period of time (which varies according to the QB and the situation), then you have to proceed IMO as though he isn't.

Bet the Chargers wish they had a do over with Brees.

Perhaps, but for every Drew Brees some team wishes it had a do-over with, there are umpteen other QBs that were gotten rid of either at the appropriate time, or too late. The odds are in favor of moving on, not with hoping you'll eventually have a Drew Brees.

Are you worried that Tannehill would get injured and Moore looks better? The only group who consistently trashes Moore and want to trade him are the ones who have declared Tannehill a franchise QB before he actually has shown that he can be a franchise QB.
I like Moore but I never like a player so much that I trash another player just because.

As a Miami Dolphins fan we should be glad that he is on our roster because a starting QB is only one play away from being down and out. I don't promote just changing QBs throughout the season unless the starter gets injured. And if the backup looks better than the starter yes keep the change (see us in 2011). But if the starter played good he should get his job back (which was a disservice to Smith last year with the 49ers).

Instead of constantly trashing Moore, as a fan of a team we should embrace him as a QB who has shown in the past that he is capable of being part of a winning team. I would reckon that more than half the teams would be glad to have a capable backup just ask the Titans, the Eagles, the Bears, the Vikings etc.

Was being sarcastic while poking fun at some here who want to fire everyone when things aren't going well. Also, anticipating an inappropriate and unjustified QB controversy on this board if Tanny has another bad game at some point this season. It's just the way I've found things to be here. I actually agree with all you said above.

how long does it usually take a QB to actually be considered a franchise QB.over the last 10 years we have seen some one year wonders and some qb that take a few years to develop.i can think of many tht really shot out of the gate only to teeter off.then I can think of some that started off slow but became really good players.Flacco,Ryann,Brees,,RIVERS,SANCHEZ(HE STILL SUCKS)RODGERS,BIG BEN,STAFFRORD even MANNING took a few yars to become great.come to think of it when was the last guy who did great in his 2nd year ?Kapernick but that was more of a system that was working around the league.hows LUCK and RGIII and WILSON DOING THIS YEAR IN A PASSING LEAGUE?

Is this a serious question? Luck and Wilson are doing very well I'd say. RGIII has better numbers than Tannehill and he's coming off major surgery and did not play in the pre season.

Before last weeks game against the Bills, Tannehill was doing almost as well as Luck and Wilson, and doing better then RG3, and after this week (IF the Line can give Tannehill some time), he could again be better then RG3, and around Luck and Wilson again.

When Miami and Indy played, Tannehill had a better game then Luck, and was rated higher. That is how seasons normally go.

I didn't want to start another Tannehill thread, I'm kind of sick of them, so I'll post a link to this, from Football Outsiders.

I don't really agree with Football Outsiders on a lot of things -- I think their attempt to bring Sabermetrics into football is just kind of silly, but this is mostly film analysis and you may or may not find it interesting:

While he is not yet great, a great player has to be able to compensate for flaws around them. Tannehill is already doing that on a weekly basis behind this offensive line.

They seem to be pretty high on him even while ripping him for that pick six.

Looks like a detailed and fair analysis to me. It is also heartening in terms of validating RT's progress. Unfortunately, the team and us fans must suffer through the development of our QB and he, in turn, must suffer through a period of very poor pass protection. Will the Dolphins EVER have a complete team? I hate to say it, but its looking like we may have to wait yet another season before we can say we they have one.

Back in the day, Archie Manning wouldn't have stood a chance with the Pavlovians around here.

Tanny is perfectly capable of being a top 10 QB in the league. Watch the games. He is legit.
He's made a few bad decisions and thrown some unnecessary int's, but seriously people the guy has to be scared to death back there after 2 seconds goes by. Really watch the games
and look at his drives when he gets even a little protection. He is for real and is very smart.
Watch what happens here if we win tomorrow, this will be a whole new thread.
