OK, So Which QB Do We Draft in 2006?

omar jacobs will NOT be an UFA.... he will probably be a first/second round pick. did you see his stats this last year? absolutely insane... best i've ever seen.

No Way. If he gets drafted he would go in the 5-7 range. Remember;

1. he is a MAC QB.
2. BGSU players get no respect in the draft.
3. BGSU runs a spread offense so he would need to make major adjustments to his game.

I do think he is a good athletic QB. But for the reasons I named above i don't see him drafted high. Case in point look at the numbers Josh Harris put up. he got no respect at all.

Ben Roethlisberger, Chad Pennington, and Byron Leftwich were MAC quarterbacks as well. Oh, wait. They were first round picks.

You've gotta be ****ting me....UFA? At risk of sounding like a homer, the guy has the best TD-INT ratio ever. I don't care what offense you play in, that is freaking impressive. He also has ideal size, he can run, he is composed in the pocket, and his release is unorthodox but lighting quick. I watched the spring game last week and it looks like he finally got his deep ball under control, which was the weakest part of his game, because his short-intermediate passes are on point always.
Putting up the same numbers he did last year should make him a easy 1st round pick and in heavy contention for the heisman. While I'm not certain if he can or not, saying that he can drop outta the draft all together is ridiculous, not even considering the fact he will only be a junior and if his year is subpar he could stay.
And the MAC QB sterotype is obviously drifting away, the past few years show that there have been highly touted prospects from the conference, and even one that had a slip in play his senior year, Frye, is being banked on to be the future of the Browns.

You definetly are a homer if you think they are going to put someone from BGSU up for the heisman :roflmao: . Yes i know MAC QBs are starting to get some respect. But i couldn't tell you if it's the opponets they play or what but BGSU players get no respect in the draft. if they did Josh Harris would have went higher than he did. he put up great numbers when he was there QB. plus the team was really bad until he was there QB. Harris had a big part in turning that team into what it was last year. But again BGSU players get no respect. I have my season tickets to there games and I'll continue to go and support them. but i'm not going to be shocked when Jacobs either gets drafted in rounds 5-7/ or goes undrafted.

Like i said BGSU players get no respect. Plus Those QBs played well Against big opponets and played bigger schools in bowl games. BGSU does not get those kind of bowl bids because there fans don't travel well with the team, and there are not good for ratings(hopefully if they keep winning that will change.)

1.There is enough on that topic.
2. BGSU is a young, developing program. Most of their NFL quality players have been recently recruited and are still in the system. We have seen a few of these guy get on teams, such as Harris and today Mrucowski(sp), but there is much to come. I'd say next year we have 2 legit WR prospects and a RB prospect to go along with Jacobs. The program is on the rise, not one that has been pumping out players in the past, expect more to come from the program in the next few years.
3. Alex Smith ran a spread offense of similar structure. Omar has better numbers in it. Leftwich was a spread offense guy, Rothlisberger didn't run a conventional offense either. The list goes on. If you produce in a way this guy has, regardless of your offense, your going to get peoples attention.

He is no way like Harris as a football player. While they are both athletic QB's, that is where the comparison ends. Harris was an option type RB with a cannon arm. Urban Myer and later Greg Brandon utilized these abilities of him to the fullest, and he racked up big rushing and passing yards. Omar on the other hand, is much more of a pocket passer. He may have some speed, but he would much rather hang out in the pocket and wait for a reciever to make a break. My number 1 quality i see in him as a QB is his composure. When the pocket breaks down, he avoids pressure but dose not seem to get rattled. He stays behind the LOS and keeps his body in a position to make a pass. His arm is plenty strong, and he has a very quick accurate release of the ball. The only knock on him there is he throws the ball kind of like throwing a dart, and it comes out a little low. But the guy does stand 6'5 and I can't remember any balls being batted down, and the way he gets the ball to the recievers with zip leads me to believe, if his release ain't broke, don't fix it. Another thing is he has the added dimension of being able to run for 1st down if needed. I would say he is in about the 4.7 range just estimating, which is good for his size, and has enough burst and wiggle to keep chains moving. If this kid can regain his 2004 form, I don't see why he wouldn't be the number 2 QB prospect after Leinart.
BG will be playing some tough teams this year, opening up with @Wisconson, and if their defense can get it together, we can have a season that could be similar to Utah's last year.
Don't underestimate this kid.

I think Feeley and Frerotte is one of the worst Qb combinations in all of football. We should be taking chances on Qbs, we should have spent draft picks years ago on some developmental Qbs. The way the draft went down I dont really think we missed anything important but our franchise needs to wisen up and start developing talent at the Qb position. Feeley MIGHT be pretty good but hes a marginal talent and Frerotte is a dud whose career is next to over. This position is much more important than this franchise thinks it is. I thought Saban might change things but really this is so similar to what Wanny and Speilman were doing that its a little scary.

A LITTLE SCARY? 31 other teams know who their QB is for the next 5-10 years. We got ZERO.

This team NEEDS to BREAK THE BANK NOW and get a REAL QB whatever it costs. Trade and get Rivers.

For all of you who think the 2006 QB draft is SO much better than this "thin" one, who thought we had "so many other needs" and just couldn't STAND the thought of us "WASTING" a pick on QB this year, tell us now...

WHO SHOULD WE PICK IN 2006? Who is gonna be our next Franchise QB?

COME ON! GIVE US A NAME! Let's hear it! Who?

Anyone who says "Leinart" is disqualified because he will be the #1 pick and we won't get him.

COME ON! NAME please?

:yell: :yell: :yell: :yell: :yell: :yell: :yell: :yell: :yell:

Someone BITTER that we didn't take a QB?

Palko + Wanny = damaged goods. And I'm gonna shell out $40 for a student season ticket to see the bloodbath of a season the Panthers are going to have :roflmao:

Oh, and here's the best thing too: Wanny is going to take on someone who absolutely PWN3Z him in the opener, Charlie Weis!! AND I'M GONNA SEE IT!!! SOMEBODY KILL ME!!!!!

LOL!!!! I didn't even think about that!!

:roflmao:

What makes you so 100% that Rivers will be a great QB? The last QB the charges got that high in the draft was Ryan Leaf how do you know he won't be like him? I for one don't want to "break the bank" for a back-up QB that has not done anything in the NFL. You could get Chris Simms cheaper and he at least has game experience, and he has shown potential in the games he has played in.

What do you suggest we trade? You do realize they will want what they put in at the VERY LEAST, meaning our first. Guarantee it would be more. Or maybe we should trade a lot of our D. Playing with no D certainly worked for Marino and Manning, huh. Nick rebuilt the most important side of the ball, injecting some MUCH needed youth and worked to set the D for years to come. Once that is done he will fix the QB problem, assuming there even is one at the end of this season. Are you expecting to win it all this year and believe that QB is the only thing holding us back? I certainly hope not considering we are REBUILDING. If our only problem was at QB, we would not have gone 4-12. So take a breath, relax, have patience Dolphingator-san. You are probably too young to be giving yourself an ulcer.

We have plenty of defense to trade off now. Get rid of whoever SD wants and get Rivers.

I have been watching the Dolphins since 10 years before 75% of the posters in here were born, and I say we NEED A QB. I already have ulcers from thinking about what an absolute outrage it is that this franchise won't get a QB.

FEELEY MUST GO
