OK, So Which QB Do We Draft in 2006?

I believe Vince Young will be a sophmore, two years away, besides, right now his arm stinks.

Vince Young is a going to be a Jr this year, trust me, I'm the Longhorn's biggest fan, lol. We've also got 4 returning 0-line starters so hopefully they give him enough protection to develope his arm more.

It's dumb to say there are no good QBs in next years draft. Every year QBs rise and other players rise. Was any one excited about the possibility of getting Alex Smith at the end of last season? I doubt it.

Anyone who says "Leinart" is disqualified because he will be the #1 pick and we won't get him.

Not necessarily. What if the 49ers finish dead last this season? What if the Giants finish dead last this season? What if WE finish dead last this year? What if Leinart gets injured this season? That would drop his stock.

I want Leinart. I hope he enters the supplemental draft (A man can dream, right?).

I assume USC has had spring practice already, if Leinart was involved he probably cannot be in a supplemental... not sure.

I just don't have any confidence that Saban will make the moves necessary to get Leinart. We aren't going to be the first pick (but I don't think we are over .500 because of no QB) but we would have to make a significant trade. How about waiting out the Smith situation in SF? Rumblings are that he will hold out and they may cave in and do a deal. Better chance of us paying that price than of Leinart next year. we need to do something NOW.

Trade for Rivers or Ramsey

So am I the only one here who sees Leinart as being of similar talent to Aaron Rodger?

Uhhh...Yeah. Leinart is a better prospect right now than Palmer was back in 2003. Leinart definitely would have been the first player taken in the draft this year. Hell, he would have been the first pick in almost every draft of the last twenty years.

You guys need ti chill and wait and see how AJ develops.

If not then Charlie Whitehurst is the sort of player than can have an Alex Smith type rise to the 1st round.

Exactly. I can't say how good or bad he will be, but he had some good games in philly as a backup and nobody could have done very well last year.
Look at Griese. He's not as bad as the situation made him look 2 years ago and A.J. is not as bad as we saw last year. If he gets a chance to learn the offense and know that he has the backing of his coach, plus a line that will only improve with Houk coaching, he could do fine.

Leinart had surgery and missed early spring practice.

Charlie Whitehurst, QB, Clemson: The son of former NFL quarterback David Whitehurst, Charlie has a big arm and can make all the throws.

You definetly are a homer if you think they are going to put someone from BGSU up for the heisman :roflmao: but i'm not going to be shocked when Jacobs either gets drafted in rounds 5-7/ or goes undrafted.

I stumbled across some recent articles today, and they made me think of you and how you acted like I was crazy suggesting Jacobs was a heisman candidate.

College football news has a Heisman candidate watch section and Omar is listed as a true contender by two of their writers.

QB Omar Jacobs, Bowling Green
It’s amazing how all it takes is a 41 touchdown, four interception, 4,002-yard season to get into the Heisman race. There are even whispers that he’s growing into a better pro prospect than Matt Leinart. Games at Wisconsin and Boise State will make or break his campaign within the first three weeks.

Here is another less detailed list if your so inclined, notice Omar among the top 20.

We are talking about the ELITE players in the nation, and I know you're sad to hear it, but he is among them.
