Older Dolphin fans

48 here. Born and raised in Miami. Fan since birth. They are all I've ever known.

I'm 38 but started following football a little later. Didn't even get to see the '84 season/'85 Superbowl. The closest I have seen the Dolphins get to a Superbowl was the '92 season when the lost the AFC Championship game in Joe Robbie (29-10) to the hated Bills.

I really thought the team would improve in the following season and finally beat Buffalo and at least get to the Superbowl. Then in '93 Marino got hurt in week 6 vs the Browns. The team still start 9-2 after the exciting win in Dallas only to lose their last 5 and miss the playoffs. They looked good in '94 but of course that loss in San Diego. Then the '95 season which was a huge disappointment.

The Md-Late '90s with Jimmy rebuilding the Defense only to end with the disaster in Jacksonville after the '99 season. Jimmy quitting and then handing over the keys to Wanny. Then of course Marino retiring. The surprising 2000 season winning the division. Then Wanny squandering that solid defense and running Lamar Smith and Ricky into the ground by never finding a better QB than Fiedler.

Then of course you looks at the Saban debacle then the Cam Cam disgrace. Followed by some false hope with Parcells/Sparano after the '08 mirage when they found a half way decent QB in Pennington and where everything went right winning close games against crap teams. After that reality hit, failing from '09-'11 and finally ending the Sparano/Henne experiment.

Then some hope in Philbin and crew winning 7 games with a raw rookie QB and not much to work with on offense. To where we are now looking like nothing has changed after Ireland went on a free agent spending spree and with a crap load of draft picks.

Over the years from some of Shula's later draft up until Ireland's recent ones you will see a lot of terrible picks. Great teams are able to build with consecutive solid drafts. The Dolphins have failed to do that for a long time now.

What can we say it's not easy to be a Dolphins fans especially being in the same division as that team in New England and their spoiled fans. Just always hoping that maybe our time will come soon.

I'm 23. I started watching this team in 1997 so there never were any "good ol days" for me. I have just about emotionally withdrawn from this season entirely and I wouldn't be surprised if I start to lose interest in following this team altogether.

50 here, Been a Dolphin fan since I was about 5.

I'm 49.....Been a Dolphin fan since 1970.....How many other Dolphin fans here around
my age, considering what our team has done the last decade, are starting to have that
sickning feeling,we might NEVER see another SuperBowl win?

56 here and have been a fan since 1970

First Dolphins game viewed, was... coincidentally, the first full live game in the UK... the 83 Super Bowl. I chose Miami before the game kicked off, and have stuck with them ever since... and not changing one bit.. even if London gets a franchise!

I will always hold out hope that the Glory shall return.

35...Seems like every Sunday is ground hogs day. I've been watching the same game forever.

Well past 56 and a fan since 1971. I could write a story on every season if I was hypnotized properly. This year is a horrible fade job. I've seen 95% of the snaps, almost every down. Coaching is our weakness. It's cost us at least 2 games. Tonight's the season

Namor, you got me to de-lurk. I'm 57 and have been a Dolphin fan since 1970. I was a paper girl for the Miami Herald and used to have the honor of having Larry Csonka as a customer. Those were happier days. I still have hope that we will get it right eventually. However the Dolphins do break my heart each year.

52 YO was walking into the OB as Joe Auer was returning our opening pre season kick off for a TD against the Raiders. My family had season tix for the first four seasons so went to several of those games a year. I Played little league in Miami so my fall weekends were my game sat morning possibly Hurricanes sat nite and Pro football Sunday. I remember the Dynasty like it was yesterday and for me it is as meaningful as ever. If another team wants to talk the best I get out the Perfect season hammer and smash their argument. Best coach Shoes hands down. That will be the legacy of those SB teams and two very nice nuggets to carry around in fans pockets.

I was at the game in Indy when Dan threw the TD record beaking pass to Byers 343 and there a few weeks ago with the nice win agasint the colts. Ive seen them play in Lambeau, Rich stadium Giants stadium ,Lucas oil & RCA Dome

I feel for the younger folk here that dont have such vivid memories to and it brings a smile to my face when I think back on it all and realize how lucky I was to witness the awesome success of this franchise when Shoes came in and turned things around. Ill put it up against any of the other dyanasties or teams histories and legacies. And you might want to check but i think if you go to the hall of fame site and look up franchise winning percentage we are still near the top of that list at 600%

That being said you younger fans need to put into reality how lucky you are. In Feb of 2012 I was diagnosed with cancer and im fighting to this day. I literally stayed in a hosp room a few doors down from coach Pagano here in Indy last year who is in remisssion now. I wont be seeing this team ever put on a show like the one they did when the Fins were perfect. I will miss the anticipation of having new hope every year that the Fins will get it together and make a championship run. Count your blessings

24 born and raised in South Florida. I've always supported South Florida professional teams so i'm fortunate to see the marlins win twice and the heat three times. The Dolphins are my favorite team though and i honestly feel like a spouse who has been cheated on countless times. I keep coming back for some reason even though i have no faith they will ever change, i think the fact that i was nothing but suspicious when we were 3-0 is a microcosm of my relationship with the Dolphins.

This thread sounds like an AA meeting  42 here, been a fan as long as as I can remember, sometime in the mid 70's. The fins are so frustrating, they are one of the greatest joys of my life yet so disappointing. I always have and always will stick with them through thick and thin. I have given up on almost all of other favorite sports team, just don't care to follow them anymore but I always come back for the beatings from the fins. I just want to enjoy the season for once or twice. It always sucks to have a crappy or mediocre team when the holidays come, kind of puts a damper on things for me. It's pretty sad when you hope for a wild card loss to be a measuring stick for a successful season but that's where I am at right now. Go fins!

Been a Dolfan since I was ten, I have seen alot of good years but since Dan the man retired they seem pretty rare.
I was really getting pumped about this year until the wheels fell off the wagon.
Maybe tonite they can get a much needed win and things could turn around.
