Here is some information I found posted on the "Draftbook" about Omare Lowe. I have never seen him play, but am in favor of giving a guy a chance that has some upside. We kind of know what Shields is about, but since we are deep at DB's I would like to see us keep Lowe around (as long as he is showing a little something), who know's he could surprise!
:) :D :)

Notes: Had an extremly difficult childhood. Option quarterback in high school who was a hurdles champion in the 110-meter high hurdles and 300 intermediate hurdles. Redshirted in 1997 while moving to the secondary. Played in nine games and started once in '98. Was suspended for the '99 opener after allegedly being involved in a fraternity fight but played in every other game and started twice. Started every game at cornerback in 2000 and the first 10 games in '01 but saw very limited action in the regular-season finale because of a shoulder injury. Had 10 tackles, three passes broken up and one interception in 1998; 20-3-1 in '99, when he was often the fifth defensive back; 30-9-2 in 2000; and 40-9-1 in '01, when he was the key player in Washington's big win over Michigan. In that game, he blocked a punt that resulted in a touchdown and returned an interception 21 yards for a second touchdown as Washington came from behind to win 23-18 after trailing early in the fourth quarter. Positives: Has excellent size for a cornerback. Uses his size well. Can read and react. Has a pretty good feel for coverage cushion. Has gotten a lot tougher and really improved his tackling. Can and has played safety. Negatives: Has marginal speed for a corner. Will struggle with man-on-man coverage, especially when he is backed off. Is not sudden. Lacks catch-up speed. Has a high, upright backpedal. Will drop some balls he should have intercepted. Is not a big hitter or great tackler for a safety candidate. Summary: Has marginal speed and movement skills for corner. Will not be able to play outside on a regular basis in the NFL unless the team he goes to is a zone-oriented team. Could move inside if he continues to improve tackling and hitting.

Overall: 6.8
Strengths: Has outstanding size for a corner. Is a ballhawk-type corner that might be better in space than in man-to-man. Has also played safety. Has a real nose for the ball and excellent ball skills. Takes good angles and makes plays on the ball in the air. Has very good leaping ability and is physical -- uses body to defend. Also strong against the run.Weaknesses: Does not have great feet. Is a bit stiff -- might be better off as a safety. Does not have great speed and gets turned around occasionally. Does not show great man-to-man coverage skills, is better in space.Bottom line: Lowe is a bit of a "tweener" who has played some safety, but has been more successful at cornerback. He has excellent size and a nose for the ball, but his feet are not great and he is probably better off in zone coverages. Lowe needs to improve his man-to-man coverage skills and prove that he can play on an island as a senior.

Omare Lowe will get late round consideration as the senior is a hard-nosed cover man with speed and nice break on the ball but must improve his corner instincts.

Washington’s Omare Lowe had a monster game vs. Michigan early in the season, but he really has only average man-on-man coverage skills and speed for an NFL corner. With his ball skills and range, he could be a better fit inside, though he does not have the killer instinct of a safety.

Omare Lowe (6'0, 203, #12) is an excellent athlete, but has never been able to fully translate those skills onto the gridiron with any consistency.
