Opinion..is this game a franchise changer or just another regular season game?

dr.phin the dirtbag cheats arent as good as they once were? well theyre 10-3 and the 2nd seed in the conference. beating them wont be special? really, what planet are you living on, mars? all this talk about them being old and a 2 man show and not the same- THEYRE 10-2 AND THE 2ND SEED IN THE AFC! this is an absolute must win and it would be a huge fuc**ng deal if we win! whether its by 1 or 30, just win!!!!!!!!!!!

In my opinion it is. The way I see it, no matter how good this team grows to be under Philbin/Tannehill, it won't really matter until we beat the Patriots and make a statement that we can really compete for 1st place in the division.

We should've beaten them in New England, but we didn't, so now is the time to prove that we are not that far behind from them. You lose on Sunday, and with an 0-2 record against them it's kind of hard to claim you want to take this division next year.

So yeah, I think this game could turn this franchise around, even if the Patriots have key injuries, beating them is never easy. But also, we need to win to keep our playoff hopes alive, so it's a HUGE game no matter how you see it. Should be a good test for this young team.

Have you watched any of their games...and how they have had to come from behind in many of them and are "just barely" winning. I don't give a crap about their record. When they were good...THEY BLEW PEOPLE OUT!!! Not BARELY GETTING BY...open your eyes guy!

My god, people will make some insanely ridiculous arguments to put a damper on anything good this team does! A month and a half ago, everyone was proclaiming us as the "worst team ever!!! Sell the team! Fire Ireland! Fire Philbin! Bench Tannehill! Blahhhh" and the Patriots were right there neck and neck with the Broncos as the best team in the AFC. "We can never even dream of beating those mighty Patriots!!!"

Now, the Pats suffer an injury or two, "MEH...they're just another team, they're not at full strength, if we beat them, no big deal!". Last I checked we're not at full strength either!!! We're missing TWO big pieces on offense and a pretty damn good CB. Oh and those Pats are still #2 seed in the AFC last time I looked at the standings.

I'm not saying beating the Pats will instantly turn the fortunes of this team around, but it will be impressive regardless how many injuries each team has. With all our team has been going through, I don't think very many people had us possibly winning three straight December games this team had no business winning including 2 straight cold games (one in a mini blizzard) and the other against the "once high and mighty but now suddenly average" Patriots.

Whether it be by 1 point or 20 points, knocking off the Pats WOULD be a season changer in my books. It'll give us much needed momentum and confidence going into our last two games against the Bills and the Jets, two teams that will no doubt want to put a dent in our playoff hopes. This Sunday's game is huge and a victory for us would be be pretty damn impressive if you ask me.

I believe a victory over the Pats (followed by victories over the Bills and Jets) sets the tone for this franchise in the TYannehill/Philbin era. If this team wins out and gets into the playoffs (and even win one) it will give them the confidence that they are one of the top teams in the NFL, that the AFC east isn't the Pats to lose, but a battle between the Phins and Pats. You can see how confidence has changed how the team plays over the last couple of weeks...momentum, attitude, and confidence are as important as talent....

A win is a good start, and is just a win. Only the fans put more importance into such statements as a franchise maker game.

Like it says guys and girls. Here me out, 5 straight years losing to this team, their talent is depleted and this team has been getting lucky all year long. If we lose this game, i really feel we're not turning the corner. It's almost getting to the point where they can throw 53 guys on a field and just beat us. Yeah Brady and bellicheck have everything to do with it but this MUST end on Sunday. Do you guys even want to make the playoffs if we lose this game? What's the point, it would be one and done. We SHOULD beat this team on Sunday, if not this will be a devastating loss. We're about to find out if this is truly a different dolphin team or if its the same ol phins.

One game will not make or break this franchise or team. Skip Baseless is this you?:idk:

dr.phin, are you serious?? since when does it matter how you win games? they won by the skin of their teeth throughout 2001, so that sb means nothing? in 2007 they blew people out constantly and have what to show for it? some people are just unbelievable...its more of a credit to them that they have injuries and a depleted team yet still are in 1st place. im not floating their boat cause no one hates these scumbags more than me but to say beating them would be ho-hum cause theyre not dominant is one of the most ridiculous things ive heard on here.

Game is huge. A win gives a legit chance to make the playoffs and snap a seven game losing streak to the Pats. A loss and we pack it in for the year and hope for 9-7 just to say we had a winning season.

If you win out on a 4 game streak that speaks volumes to the type of team Miami is becoming and makes it a franchise changer.

So going 3-1 in the final 4 games is a disappointment, and a sham of a season? Makes no sense.

You sound very angry simply about someone having an opinion different from your own. Need a hug?

Pretty simple really. We lose and we are done this season. IMO if that happens even if we finish 9-7 someone will get fired. It probably will be Ireland and who knows with the coaching staff if Ireland goes. This game doesn't make our season because even if we win we still have to go to Buffalo and win then finish at home with the Jets. This team has been way too inconsistent to think if we win against the Pats that our season is made because we could follow up the Pats game with a loss in Buffalo. However, this game with the Pats will give us an idea what kind of progress we are making. If we can't beat them at home when they are down talent wise, then we are a fraud.

nah dont need a hug but i really hope the players dont have the same feelings about the cheats that you and most of these posters on here do. they dont hate the patriots nearly enough as they should. theyve gotten OWNED by this team for over a decade. when does it stop? remeber how goerge allen hated the cowboys or the hatred between the celtics and lakers of the 80's? hopefully this team realizes the opportunity they have in front of them and doesnt look at going 8-8 or 9-7 as a step in the right direction. you absolutely have to beat this team, theres no other way around it and it all starts in 2 days.

Fan hate is usually a whole lot stronger than player hate. Free agency has changed that aspect of the game. From a player perspective, a lot of guys that you line up against today are guys that you played along side in the past. I don't know any fans that want to hug the opposing teams players on the field after the game, but the players do it all the time. Something else to remember is that fans are really only invested in is the competitive part of the equation but the for the players there's also a business aspect that is separate from the emotion brought on by competitiveness. So while you may hope the players feel as you do, it's probably different from their perspective ...or at least for a good number of them.

Look I totally understand the emotion for this game. No one other than me will be happy if the Phins smack the Patsies down and I tell everyone on my Facebook page that are Patsy fans to suck my gigantic Dolphin ****. But big picture its not that monumental will it be glorious to shove their **** in? YES it will but lets not build that emotional train track for this game, we win glorious we don't we still need to take care of business
