Optimism: a better currency

Sometimes it seems as there are battle lines drawn here at Finheaven; those of us who can look beyond the past and hope for a bright future, vs. those of us who believe that we are doomed to forever suffer from what we've done before.

So... it seems to me that the signing of a young, evidently bright, new head coach, combined with a young roster, and the largest amount of cap space in the NFL should provoke even the most obstinate of evil clowns to see that maybe, just maybe there is a reason for some optimism here. I mean... we've done what so many have requested-- we've hired an offensive minded coach and we definitely have the means/interest in signing the free agent linemen for which so many have thrown tantrums for us to sign.

Things might not be so bright that we gotta wear shades, but things do seem to be looking up. Flores was a tough, no-nonsense sort of guy and he did manage to get us to play a bit smarter, but he cast a pall over the team-- seemingly getting into personality conflicts with at least a couple of players and/or coaches each year. That really isn't leadership, and modern players don't generally react well to John Wayne or General Patton type leadership.

Look around the league and you'll see that the teams with a more youthful outlook are generally doing better-- winning more games, going farther in the postseason. The grumpy dictator type leadership just doesn't play well with this generation's players, and Nerdy McD might be JUST the guy to actually engender some passion and loyalty from these players.

I hope so, but then again... I'm an optimist.
Could not have said it better myself, and I have tried many times - LOL

Mike McDaniel has worked his way up from an intern to a head coach in the national football league..just imagine that grind, that dream coming to a reality.

imo he deserves the respect of the fanbase to allow him to implement his principles and processes to see if indeed he is the man for the job, my job as a fan is to create as much positive energy for him so he is not trying to do his job and deal with negative influences from the outside..

this is what’s best for the team, if he fails so be it, but trying to act like I know he will fail before those processes begin makes me look stupid frankly...jmo

I like that he's intelligent, a good communicator and in the few videos I have watched, he's not timid. An empty-headed alpha won't necessarily be a leader, if Mcdaniel puts guys in position for success, they will follow him.
High risk/reward. It's Ross' longshot redemption try before the sale.

Love the optimism . I am taking a more cautionary approach. I am certainly hoping we got this right this time but we have been down this road before many many times and i cant just throw out the many years of ineptitude this franchise has put us through. I love the hire but its a wait and see approach for me

I have no idea if McDaniel will succeed or not, but I do find the reasons presented by many here as reasonable reasons to be hopeful. On the other hand, I find the reasons presented as to why he will fail as ridiculously stupid. If McDaniel fails it will not be for any of those reasons. It would most likely be b/c it's a really difficult job that most fail at.

I also find that being around negative people is draining and no fun. The people who come on this site and constantly complain seem to have no other purpose than to try to bring misery. They may claim to be just "speaking the truth" or some other inaccurate nonsense, but in reality they are just horrible people to interact with. I tend to leave the site from time to time and it's almost always just to avoid the negative conversations.

So much win in this post. Hell, all your posts honestly. Haven't seen one that isn't on point.

I am always optimistic until I’m not.

I have been a Dolphin fan since 1966 and I have always been optimistic every time they hire a new HC, draft new players or sign players in free agency.

I have no idea if McDaniel will turn out to be a good head coach or not but I am certainly going to give him the benefit of the doubt at this time.

I knew absolutely nothing about him until his name came up as a candidate for the job. So I’m certainly not going to claim that I always thought he would be a great HC. I just know that at this time I look forward to seeing how this team and especially Tua and the offense develop under his leadership.

I just wish the season was starting next month instead of ending this coming weekend. Because I’m already excited about the 2022 season.
