Other Mormon QB's (Not a negative post)

I don't care if the Dolphin's QB is a Scientologist, Catholic, Protestant, Mormon, or Hare Krishna.....JUST WIN BABY!!!!

:bighug:

Young never went on a mission and he was like 23 when he was a starter in the USFl and was a starter for the Bucs at 24. He wasnt a successful starter until he was 30 with SF. Goes to show a good team can make a good Qb and a crappy team well you know the rest.

Kyle Turley was on a mission when he ripped the helmet off of New York Jets safety Damien Robinson.

Is Steve Young a morman? I didn't think he was. Most of the football players who go to BYU aren't, atleast according to a friend who went to BYU.

:sidelol: His great-great-great grandfather was Brigham Young. The 2nd Prophet of the Mormon Church. Yes he is a Mormon :sidelol:

Steve and his wife have served on a Mission together after he retired from the NFL. That's why you didn't see him on TV immediately afterwards. They took two years and served as a Mission President somewhere in Central America I believe.

An earlier poster was correct. Steve Young is a descendent of Brigham Young so I believe that would make him a mormon.

That doesn't make him a Mormon, but trust me -- his family is very into the religion. I wouldn't be surprised to see Steve as a Bishop in his ward very soon.

Who was the Morman ofensive lineman that was drafted by the Raiders but never played because the games are on Sunday?

If I remember correctly they used a first day pick on him.
I believe you are referring to Dustin Rykert, OT from BYU. He was a 6th round pick though. The Raiders picked him late in the 2003 NFL Draft, in hopes that he would change his mind about playing in the NFL. It never happened.

Clarifications....

The Standout Olinemen that was drafted by the Raiders even after he made it clear that he was not interested in playing in the NFL was Eli Herring. The Raiders decided to take a chance anyways and wasted a 6th round pick on him. Had Herring entered the draft he was projected as a 2nd round pick.

Trey Parker III is not Mormon. He however dated an LDS girl and she kicked him to the curb when he wanted a bit more than what she was willing to give if you understand what I mean. This is why "according to Trey in an interview several years ago" he decided to take a few digs at the LDS religion, both through South Park and through Orgasmo. Basically he was ticked off that he got jilted by a Mormon girl who wasn't willing to put out. When invited to his girlfriends family's house on a Monday evening, he thought it was "messed up" (not the words he used) that families would spend an evening together singing and playing games. His quote was that "families aren't supposed to be doing that". In a word: Trey has issues

he is directly related to brigram young which BYU is name after.

Not to hijack this SouthPark thread.....
There is a school of thought that says the two year mission served immediately after HS and before college allows a young adults body; especially the tendons and ligaments to mature at a more normal rate, thereby reducing chance of injury.

I've never seen any stats to prove it either way, just thought I'd share.

Orgasmo! Holy Crap I forgot about that movie. The South Park guys were Mormons and they love to pick on thier former religon. But man that was a funny movie.

Actually Trey Parker, I don't believe, was or is Mormon. As I understand it, his best friend growing up was LDS (Mormon), and he has a high regard for the church. Albeit, he makes fun of everyone.

This is even reflected in "Orgasmo" which I haven't seen. But, from what I've heard, the missionary is reflected positively, and doesn't do anything "bad" during the whole thing. If he wanted to make fun (or light) of the religion, he'd be having him "partaking" in the activities.

On another note, I don't believe Todd Watkins is LDS.
On another note, my wife was raised in the house that Steve Young's dad was raised in, so we must be related.
