Our passing game vs the new-look patsies

Revis just had a great year last year and he was playing zone the entire year.

He had a great year? You're the only one that thinks so (ask Pat Kirwan or Jim Miller if they think he had a great year).

Not to say he won't have a good year this year but he certainly didn't last year.

We could really use another playmaker/redzone threat IMO. I like the way Gibson played around the goal line before injury but another target would be good, maybe another TE with speed but blocking may suffer.

for both browner and revis, they over paid them but nothing on offense. gronk, amendola and veeran have health issues also losing edleman was huge. spikes signed with the bills and wilfork is gone. the secondary is legit but theres no one on the front.

After checking the market, Julian Edelman is in talks to return home

The New England Patriots and the wide receiver's representatives are working on a deal for Edelman to remain in New England, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Friday night, citing a source informed of the process.

As long as they have Brady and Belichick we're never going to have a team that can dominate the Pats for 2 wins, so like every year what we need to do is split with the Pats and hope to win the division by taking care of business vs the Jets, Bills and whoever else we play. If we get to 11 wins and one of those wins comes against the Pats we have a good shot.

As for the question we definitely need another weapon on offense, either a big bodied receiver or a really good seam threat TE. Maybe Sims or even Egnew can take a big step up like Clay did but we still should be doing everything we can to find that big bodied security blanket type receiver.

are you joking? he was 1st in yards allowed as a cb and I think pff had him ranked #1 overall....

We have to strengthen up the run game so that we can stretch the field. It's the best way to counteract the fact that the Pats still have no pass rush and create little pressure on the QB. Revis and Browner are press coverage beasts because of their physicality, but this exposes them if we add a mid-range weapon (seam-busting TE which we all talk about), and are able to have a balanced run game. The plan would be to make them over-aggressive.

Revis and Browner...****, that's a physical matchup. Let's not downplay this. Although they have their weaknesses, Revis wrecked us in his Jets day, and Browner is bigger and more physical than any of our WRs. That being said, I've watched my fair share of Browner and he is susceptible to being beat over the top because he comes down hard on receivers. That's where stretching the field comes in. Make him bite. Revis, I hate having Revis back in our division. That sucks. He's not old, he's not washed up, he's 28 years old and is coming off a strong season after an achilles injury.

We need to acquire more dynamic pieces on offense. After shoring up the OL, having a TE that creates havoc and matchup nightmares completely opens up the field. Think about it, Clay was playing very well for us in stretches last year after being thrown into the helm as #1 TE. Adding a big-time TE to what Clay brings would mess with defensive coordinators minds. Add a bruiser of a RB and the short game opens up entirely and creates space for Miller...who, let's be honest, even though he averaged 4.2 ypc, he was underproductive because the offense couldn't create space. Let Tannehill continue to progress and give him another offseason with Wallace, and he better be able to hit him with the deep ball. With our current offensive core I think we get shutdown by the Pats defense.

Bringing this back to the Pats issue, they have a weak front 7 with Wilfork wanting out of NE. Teams need to expose that because the DBs will force the offense into the looks they want because of their physicality.

Lets not forget Logan Ryan, Kyle Arrington, Duron Harmon, and Devin McCourty.

Revis will be the Revis of old.

Browner though I think is on the decline. I was hoping the Fins would give him a look but after watching his play from last year I'm glad they didn't. He was on PED's last year and still lost his starting spot last season. For someone who depends on his strength to overt WR's because he is not quick that is a very bad sign. He also has lost a step speed wise. They will always have to shade a safety over the top which will open up the middle of the field.

I really want the Fins to give an honest look at James Jones. He would be an excellent red zone threat and a great 4th/5th WR to protect against injury.

I am not the only one who thinks so. PFF has him graded out as the best CB in the league last year, and they have him graded out very well in coverage. He was a top 3 cover corner in every advanced statistical measure. So yeah he they don't know what they're talking about if they think he had a bad year. By Revis standards? Yeah it was a down year. Compared to the average CB? He had a year most of them would kill for.

This and he was top 2 in yards per coverage snap, and he had a very low passer rating when targeted. Somewhere around 50.

Yeah this isn't true at all.

They do the same thing. The eliminate 1 guy for the whole game. Revis may be better at it but they take away 1 guy thats all. Thats why clay only had 1 catch against the pats last time they played and it was a screen.

Revis can actually take away one guy. Aqib Talib can try and take away one guy. He matches up well with Clay. That's the only reason why he could take him away from the game. Revis matches up well with everybody.
