Pack your bags Philbin.

Philbin is the only reason why we have the wins we do with that turd heap of an O-Line put together by our pathetic excuse for a GM!

It would be ironic keeping Morano for 4 years, Ireland for 6 years and we dump the only guy that may be competent after 2 years, no thanks to Ireland.

He is pretty stoic. But I don't think he is necessarily the problem. IMO, it's the coordinators who need to get their respective units fired up and into the game. I am a little disappointed, however, that Philbin doesn't show any emotion whatsoever.

This is why I wish Coyle was on the field and not in the box. Have him on the sideline to talk to his guys and get the fired up! I do not mind the O coordinator in the box as he can get a better perspective, but I do like the D coordinator on the field.

As for Philbin's stoic demeanor, he looked like I looked for most of the game. I was completely dumbfounded by what I was watching.

That little hand clap of Philbin's is a great motivator of men don't you think? :hclap:

Not saying he's perfect, but within the last 24 hours he was in the discussion for coach of the year.

At least you had the excuse of not having put the gameplan together and watched the team practice all week.

what hurt us was the dropped balls in the first, killed our rhythym. like the commentator said, philbin emphasized on getting to a quick start, and when we didn't do that, that hurt us mentally.

This game was the Philbin regimes payback for being lousy all year. We never established a run game all year, never learned how to do anything that wasn't 90 percent shotgun, from day one of training camp poorly managed an offensive line, and despite having a defense that doesn't measure that poorly in stats, is an absolutely incredibly awful defense at getting off the field and forcing short drives from the opponent. With everything on the line 14 games in, we came into a place that required us to at least have some basic competency at these things, and it ended up that half of the yardage we gained the entire day was from our backup QB.

Philbin won't lose his job over this game, sadly he saved it over the last three, but there is nothing to convince me that this staff is good enough to be anything but mediocre. They don't make the players on the field better and that's not good enough when you have a GM like Ireland who is so poor at drafting that we will go into every season with a different glaring weakness.

Maybe he expects highly paid athletes, knowing what is at stake, to play like professionals. This whole team laid an egg, I do not think the great Don Shula would have won today the way this team played.

In a perfect world, yes. But that's part of coaching professional athletes, dealing with the personalities and getting them to play. Because they've got their money.

The good ones do it. The mediocre ones don't. And, if you as a coach can't do it, you need to bring in some strong on-field leadership personalities types that can do it.

Listen to most NFL people -- players, coaches or front office -- when they are interviewed on this subject. A coach still has to prepare his team and still has to motivate his team somewhat. With the reward so obvious, it shouldn't have been that hard this week. And yet, this team didn't even show up today.

Yes, that clearly works for all 31 other teams in the NFL too, which is why all 31 teams but us make the playoffs every year.

Hes not emotional but he also is not going anywhere. Just hope they get smart and get rid of Sherman. I didnt think it was possible but he is worse than Henning.
