Patriots trade logan Mankins to Bucs, possible good news for our dline

Starks, Odrick and Mitchell probably have big smiles on their face this afternoon.

And BB would do this without someone else looking very good in camp to replace him...right...

ahh crap so much for tim wright as a cut to us...pats always seem to get out at the right time will see if mankins shows fall off this year...he wasn't dominant in 2013 but he wasn't terrible either...odrick wrecked him when we played them

You really thought the Bucs would cut smith. I know he was in doghouse but never saw him as a cut

cut or trade...they didn't trade him for nothing...he was obviously not in the plans...could see that watching their preseason games odds were good he was gone

The Pats won this one as they always do. Got a young undrafted TE who had better numbers than any other rookie TE drafted last year while giving away an older OG that may have been on the decline.

Now that's how a front office works....you give up someone where you are strong to get a very good player for where you are weak.....I like what Tampa did here, same with the Pats....Belicheat knows Gronk will be back on IR before the season ends or not be back until the season is half over, now he has a young TE who will only be better with NE play design and quarterback play.....

Time for us to make a move, trade Hartline for Boone and throw in a conditional pick.....

No team in the league seems to develop their olinemen the way NE does. I could be wrong there are other teams but they consistently build their line from the draft

Could be different this year cause Dante Scarnecchia is gone. He was an outstanding O-Line coach.

not sure anyone has looked so good. Cannon was named right guard starter before preseason, so I guess he feels Connely who has started 51 games for him will do a decent job.
That's good depth when you can trade a pro bowler and have a guy that has started 51 games to take his place. Definitely not an upgrade but they drafted 3 OL and definitely know how to develop them.
I would take either starting guard for NE over any of our guards.

One of the best, too bad coordinators don't make hall of fame. They seem to have a solid replacement but no denying that's hard to replace

Yep, exactly what I thought. Mankins was a $10 million/year OG in decline. Tampa was desperate. Jason Licht is over there and was a candidate for our GM position. Glad we didnt hire that guy.

well they did draft a TE. Early in preseason there was talk that Smith had big plans for him and then something happened. Any word on what the fallout was. Smith was very high on the TE when camp started

I'm not deny it. But he was regressing His weakness was pass protection always has been as evident by his allowing 10 plus sacks last season. But neither do I have the foresight nor the coaching inside information to ascertain how this will play out. Just have to see what happens

He stepped in a played LT for a lot of last season too, how did he perform there? He looked OK to me but maybe not? :idk:

Anyway, huge move, hopefully its a massive failure. :hump:

They will probably sign Incognito now.

If Cog goes to the Pats, I can see it now...

"Then in the locker room he looked at me in a way that upset me, I told my wife, and she told me I did not have to stand for such bullying, and that I look really manly with long hair."

Too bad, Odrick ate Mankins lunch in the first game last year (2 sacks).

How is this a bad move for Lict. They needed a guard a he got a pro bowl guard for a TE that wasn't fitting in.
So you would rather have a big hole on your oline then overpay for a good lineman. I wish our GM was that stupid.
If you are going to rollover the money anyway why not fill a damn hole.
