Hall Of Famer
by all accounts ive seen Paul Soliai hasnt played poorly so far. i deleted the games off the DVR so i cant look. but people listing the fact soliai only has 4 tackles as evidence he has played poorly for an interior lineman - thats just plain and simple garbage. how many sacks did paul have last year? understand the position he plays people. he isnt going to rack up numbers.
and his contract demands were most certainly NOT ridiculous as many here seem to believe. and he STILL is going to earn a big contract and THAT is the point here. hes going to get paid fair market value. the dolphins were never going to pay him obviously cause they already blew it and priced themselves out of the market as the price continued to rise last year with no offer on the table till it came down to the fact they had to franchise the guy to keep him.
once hes franchised THATS ON THE TEAM NOT HIM. why should he be expected to play for free essentially on a contract he is going to earn in ONE YEAR as soon as the seasons over? MAKES ZERO FOLKS. they were asking for the same type of money that cleveland signed a NT for here last week. the dolphins could have negotiated from there. they decided not to.
to say soliai is being greedy here is just ignorant. its just simply not the case. if u are making say $50,000 a year and your boss comes to u and says - you know what? ive got a great idea how about u stick around here awhile and after this year which you are making $50,000 why dont you work the next 2 YEARS for $50,000 TOTAL??? and u know there are offers out there for you to make $100,000
come on people be real. and make some sense. if you wouldnt take that deal or give your boss the home town discount why should he??? the dolphins WERENT EVEN CLOSE folks. they made a ridiculous offer. they know it. he knows it. paul soliai will not be a dolphin next year unless hes playing under another franchise tag - in which case the dolphins CLEARLY ****ed up because they could have LOCKED HIM UP for EXACTLY that kind of guaranteed money and had him for a couple more years.
If u dont include the franchise tag what is the sense of even making a deal now for the dolphins . They offered him 8 million a year giving him the 12 million for this year and 12 million for the next two years please tell me how they even asked for a discount. The difference in the deal he signed and Rubins's from cleveland was that Rubin was not franchised. rubin got a 4 year 27 million dollar contract with 18 mill guaranteed. How is he getting less money or less guarantee. 12 million plus 6 million is 18 million guaranteed. Hell Rubin is a better DT anyway so they can talk about his deal all day but its moot. what solai's people want is the 12 million guaranteed for this year plus the 18 million over like 3 more years guaranteed which is essentially 30 million guaranteed over a friggin 4 year contract so in essence they want a 4 year 36 million dollar contract with almost all of it guaranteed which is pure crap.
