By the Bucs deciding on Licht, the Dolphins can truly take their time and decide on the best candidate. No competition for GMs.

This was Carl Peterson's way of saying he wants Farmer, and only Farmer. He probably knew Licht was hired when he leaked that soundbite to Andrew Abramson, leaving only Farmer on his list.

Btw, the Bucs job Licht has been tabbed for is a "real" GM job as he has control of the draft & other personnel decisions.

The Bucs have tabbed Jason Licht as their new General Manager. The two sides are still working out the contract.

LOL I do find it ironic that a report comes out stating the Dolphins like two candidates: Farmer & Licht, then almost immediately we find out that the Bucs have agreed to terms with Licht.

It's almost as if he said 'Oh crap, the dolphins want me, I'd better sign with anyone else'

A few things...

* He found middle of the roster talent via free agency. I think that is the best use of FA.
* I like the fact that different regimes kept him on and did not jettison him. The Browns FO is ripped right now, but Michael Lombardi and Joe Banner are quality FO types and thought enough of Farmer to bring him over.
* He is young, articulate and seems to have a good disposition in all his media appearances.
* He played the game. That is still a big factor for me. I like it.
* Finally, I am a big Bill Kuharich fan. He should be a GM somewhere and if he can get a post in the FO, it would lessen my gripe of the members of the old regime such as Dawn Aponte kicking around. Kuharich is an awesome executive. I think he could bridge some gaps on this team.

I have no issue giving him a shot.

It makes sense if their if a guy we end up with one of the playoff teams that they had in mind all the time after taiking this long. All these no-name type guys have you hopin g that they have a better plan up their sleve than just interviewing hopeful newbies GM's and throwing darts at one that he will work out.
