Peyton Manning on Tua Tagovailoa

As I continue to watch videos produced by experts, I am getting a better feel for the criticism that have no basis. Some of the ridiculous statements are:
  • Tua only goes to his first read.
  • Tua cannot go through his progressions (1st - 2nd - 3rd - and back to 1st touchdown kills that one).
  • Anyone can throw it 2 yards like Tua (silly Giants CB).
Also, his strengths are beginning to become crystalize
  • Ability to use his eyes to move defenders.
  • Good ability to anticipate where the receiver will be early in the route.
  • Ability to be extremely accurate when set
  • Ability to be lightening quick catch to release with reasonable accuracy (Parker touchdown)
  • Ability to keep the sack count and pressure count low via the quick recognition and release
Some of his challenges are:
  • Ability to freelance or adjust when he is fooled pre-snap.
  • Mechanics when under pressure.
  • Ability to check into the best play when numbers are not in your favor.
  • Scramble versus wait and throw decisions
  • Too many dumb throws and/or mistakes.
  • Taking what the defense gives you (does it most of the time but still room for improvement)
He was off during the Jets game, but I like how he is growing during this season.
Really good observations.

There have been a few times when I think Tua should have taken off and run the ball. Also, a few times where his mechanics are a little off (flat-footed throws). And he definitely took some chances and got away with some bad throws against the Jets.

For the most part, I am thrilled with what Tua is doing year two in an offense that has limited talent.

He also did a breakdown of Mac Jones recently I believe.

I haven't looked at it yet, I don't know what he said, but remember to keep your opinion consistent.

If you believe Manning talking up Tua means a lot, you can't say it means nothing for Mac on the flip side.

Maybe he trashed Mac though, I really don't know.
Good point. Manning did point out a couple of throws Tua made to the middle of the field that were questionable, or "got to be careful there."

For the most part, while fair, I think Manning will keep it positive. That's what I would expect with Jones as well

Hinted at a little bit there, but one of the little things he does at a super high level that he doesn't get much notice for, is how fast he goes from faking a hand-off to ready and reading, even it if it involves turning a 180. Isolate on that some time...he's damn quick at it. Not sure if I noticed it in the Jets game, I've grown used to it.

One knock I have from this last game, was he was late in making reads/decisions a few times and it led to errant throws, more-so early on. And his passes weren't their normal accuracy...several high throws. I believe the Jets defense severely confused him, but that doesn't cover the high throws. He'll get it.

I love Tua. I firmly believe he will become a top 5-10 QB in the NFL.

He is not currently the best QB in the division.
Right now he's playing like it. Mac Jones played like crap against Indy and threw 3 passes against the Jills. Allen's team is inconsistent and haven't won 2 in a row for how long? Wilson isn't even worth talking about. At this point in time I believe he's the best in the East and has been for weeks

Just watched Herbert's breakdown. Manning did praise his arm and his reads among other things, but it just seemed Manning was more interested in Tua's abilities when comparing the two breakdowns.

Also liked the "bad" examples of what not to do, using other quarterbacks as examples :)

Something I've thought about and that this video highlights in a way is that Tua is learning and progressing in a VERY tough situation (crappy O-line). Everything he does has to be done quicker because he doesn't have protection a lot of the time. Or he has to roll out in order buy more time.

It's a little like being forged by the fire. It's just going to make him much better. And when he finally does get a decent O-line, he'll have all of those weapons in his arsenal that he was forced learn. He'll have lightning-quick reading abilities and release times. He'll have fast footwork and roll-out abilities he probably never would have developed. With better protection, the game will seem almost easy.

I know the O-line has improved lately, but it would still be nice to see Tua behind a legitimately top-class line.

Or an average line

So obsessed with other team's QBs.

No, once again you intentionally misrepresent one of my posts though. Good job. I hate Mac Jones and have said I even prefer Tua, so try again.

Here, I'll teach you the English language if you want you want next time the words won't so heavily confuse you. So try again, what did my words mean?

Mac has been really, really good for a rookie. I don't understand people who think there can only be one good QB at a time.

Sure it's me being dishonest, when you come into a thread about Tua, talk about Mac Jones and demand we respond just like we did with Tua. Then you play the victim.

Do you know the only time I'm 'misrepresented'?

When I make a typo. Do better.

There's reasons why people think you're nothing but a troll, and you keep proving them right.
