PFF Tannehill analysis (3rd Ranked Passer)

Let's not compare Brees to Tannehill.

In 2003, Brees' sophomore season, his numbers were: 57.6% completions, 11 TDs, 15 INTs, 5.9 Y/A and a 67.5 passer rating. The Chargers went 4-12. Not all Brees fault, obviously.

I mean, LaDanian Tomlinson only rushed for 1,645 yards (5.3 avg) and only caught 100 balls for 725 yards. He only had one 73 yard touchdown run and only one 73 yard screen pass he took for a touchdown. That garbage Chargers OL allowed 29 freaking sacks, too.

Actually, let's compare them. If you're going to say you want Drew Brees level of play out of Ryan Tannehill, then you can't have your cake and eat it too. You want Drew Brees play without Drew Brees' growing pains? **** off. If Ryan Tannehill was as bad in his second year in the NFL as Drew Brees was, the moderators of this board would have expired from exhaustion handing out infractions.

I mentioned 3 TD and a win, nothing about a loss. I was talking about Peyton.

Luck is NOT having a good year so far.

I always wonder what the other 52 players on the team as well as the staff thinks when all wins and losses are on the QB?

my whole point is really that luck is what tannehill is compared to...the young gold standard at qb...well i can tell ya that kids got warts just like tanny has thru 2 games...and no ones calling him a bust or a career back up...when i break down these young qbs tape there's nothing wrong with my qbs relative to theirs...

I always wonder what the other 52 players on the team as well as the staff thinks when all wins and losses are on the QB?

Like why do they even show up? They make no difference in the outcome of the game, I mean what's the ****ing point of even playing?

Tannehills first 2 seasons in the nfl are better than brees so the moron who said that clearly doesn't know what the **** he's talking about. I swear people on this site are complete idiots. They just make stuff up. They don't watch other qbs play full games either. They just watch highlights. Hoops is on point, I watched both colts games this year and luck is about the same as Tannehill in the accuracy department.

Most blind haters don't. There was probably 12 new threads about RT sucked within an hour of the game ending. Total reactionary mindset....like that of a 12 yr old.

If anyone's interested in watching Tannehill's dropbacks against the Bills, a nice man over on reddit (Mikedubs22) put this together and hosted in on liveleak so it's unlikely to get taken down. I'd just recommend not browsing the rest of the site, because while it's completely safe and legit, some of the videos hosted there are not for the fainthearted! (Some could argue our passing game against the bills was more gruesome than anything found there, but that's neither here nor there).. gives an okay opportunity to judge pass protection too, although All22 is better for that.

i agree...i wasnt going there...but if he wants to call me out well i'm your huckleberry give me evidence

I think you're looking for confrontation where it wasn't intended. I have no doubt there are a ton of throws where Tannehill made a good decision (or didn't make a bad one) per se, but I know over the two games there were plenty of throws where he took the safe option or missed his guy. For sure there were throws that hit the receiver but stopped him in his tracks, rather than lead him.

So I'll provide evidence, but you need to specify what you want me to show you, because I don't think I'm "calling you out" , I think I'm saying that evaluating a throw as a good or bad decision just isn't enough to demonstrate if you have a good QB or a mediocre one. I'm really leaning towards the mediocre, the more I watch him, which is a shame.

no not trying for a confrontation at all...you just said my read on it was wrong i wanted you to provide evidence...that's all...the i'm your huckleberry" was just a movie quote thing

i would like to see evidence of taking the safe route or missing his guy...and by missing his guy i don't mean lack of execution but i take that as not seeing plays that were there to be made

Rereading my original post, it's a bit of a rant, so no offense meant. Again, I'm not saying your read is wrong on the throws you evaluated, I'm saying you've got to hold the QB to a higher standard than good decision, bad decision. That's my opinion. When I get a chance, I'll pick out some plays I think he let us down, even if they might have fallen in your "good decision" bracket for a good reason.

I think Philbin's comments were spot on.

The WHOLE offense had issues.

Ryan had many passes where the ball placement was bad just as he did in week one but he also had a number of perfect passes dropped.

The O-line had some issues which is expected against the Bills line which is one of the best in the entire league.

The thing that to me is indisputable, is that RT does not have that 'IT' factor now, just like he didn't have it in college.

He will improve I'm sure, but he is just a good draft away from being replaced starting with the 2015 draft, or should be

that's true i do...but i feel like i am...just let me know what you find

I'd be interested to see PFF's break down of the bills game. The pats breakdown is exactly what I'd say.

After watching that, there are 2 things that piss me off as much now than when they happened.

1. How the hell do the refs blow a whistle on that Gibson catch when he wasn't touched and didn't step out of bounds? He may not have scored if there was no whistle, but he would have picked up some YAC.

2. Miller has to catch that short pass with nothing but green grass in front of him. With his speed, that's 6. Even he has the vision to take that one to the house.

And a bonus thing that pisses me off. WATKINS THREW THE BALL AT THE PYLON ON HIS TD CATCH. That's Dolphins ball on the 20.

Oh yearh, and F*** the Bills.

I didn't go back and watch this entire game, but after watching the clip I'm gonna say It's not nearly as bad as I thought. There were mistakes and bad throws, but there was also quite a bit of pressure and some bad drops. Tannehill never forced any throws, besides a few in garbage time late in the fourth, and made good decisions with the ball. Thanks for the post.
