PFF's OL Rankings After 5 Games

where does 9 sacks 4 games in put us at rank wise...our running game success is as much scheme driven or better yet more scheme driven than personnel driven...but the biggest difference by far this year is the oline personnel fit the scheme...the tackles the guards the centers...

albert thru 4 games has been money well spent...if he gives me 12 good games and 4 ehh ones this year a 75 percent clip of plus play i'll take it...he played poorly vs kc but not as poorly as james...both tackles had rough games in that one

alberts getting to things in space that if he wasnt a plus athlete we wouldn't have a prayer on...those wide pitch plays to the left he's destroying guys in space

I thought everyone on the OL was bad vs KC, and that Miller may have played his best game in getting yards on his own. I re-watched the first half, and there were only 2 plays where KC brought a 5th DL for 7 in the box. Miller was stopped for no gain and a loss. Small sampling though. Gonna watch that vs GB.

I like PFF on some things, Oline rankings are one of them.

That's my favorite. Like last year, I believed our run blocking was the worst I have ever seen by a Dolphins OL. Yet, there were 2 teams actually worse, hard to believe. Dick Vermeil said that today's OL blocking is the worst he has ever seen.

Any opinions as to why that is? Is it the change in the College game to the spread O?

I agree.

Lazor has a history of manufacturing a run game out of thin air. It's not the same as a truly strong run game or consistently converting short yardage and goal line ... but it's a lot better than what we have had lately.

Having a run game is key to effectively executing Lazor's hurry up offense. He needs to be able to take advantage of running on pass defenses and getting defenses to field run defenses against which to pass. Run defenses tend to be much slower and thus really open to big plays and chunk yardage.

Our OL has been solid on Tannehill's blind side and his play shows it. But, i think our run game looks statistically better than it really is. As a result, our OL is rated significantly higher because of Lazor's play calling and sets. It sure is nice to have a good OC.

I think having a legitimate threat of a run game is extremely helpful to a passing offense. Even if it isn't a dominant run game like Seattle or San Francisco.

The total pressures last year were 224, a 14 per game average. So far this year, there have been 42, a 10.5 average. I may just send you the $5,000 before I bet it away.

Ever since PFF rated Tannehill #7 in the league in 2013, I'll never read another article from them again.
