PFT: Is Martin Angling for Release?

If he wants a release, I would give it to him, I would even pay him his coming salary BUT I would want a signed statement by him and his lawyers that he actually wants to be released by the FIns, they didn't cut him against his will, he wasn't bullied into asking for the release etc. I do not trust this person and his lawyers

I don't see that happening, the NFL and the dolphins will make an example out of him.

Players that try to fight the NFL, or it's teams, lose. Always...

You have to remember, the NFL doesn't see lawsuits or court cases as one time occasions, they see it as a possibility for it to become a common occurrence. And they make sure to squash any ideas of that.

I'm sure they've reached out to him guys. I'm sure that was the first thing Goodell wanted done -- give him what he wants so he goes away and doesn't give the NFL a black eye. But we're not just dealing with a punk bitch here ... we're dealing with an agenda.

At best this is retaliation for perceived wrongs brought onto the little baby boy of overly sensitive and prestige guarding lawyer parents. At worse this is a politically inspired change America for the better action of over zealous crusader lawyer parents. Perhaps it simply lies somewhere in the middle where denial reigns supreme and blame must be assigned anywhere and everywhere other than on the good Martin name.

What ever the case, I'm willing to bet the NFL, NFLPA and Dolphin organization have reached out in mass and have been rejected.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Colts took a shot on him if he was released. He'd probably be a lot more comfortable w/ Luck and Fleener, his Stanford buddies.

This.

I think the Dolphins may have tried this but Martin's camp are in for a BIGGER payout...They are looking at the bigger picture than his <700k/yr salary. He's looking to hit the lottery with this.

He'll go on to write a book then eventually come out to say he's gay and then write another book

There is no lottery to win. He makes a million a year. It will be hard to prove that he has lost more than he makes or that mental anguish is more than he makes,
This is why I dont buy the money grab angle

I agree 100%. Pay him lump sum of everything he is owed for the remainder of his contract and terminate the contract. We are fine as long as we honor his contract.

I say the dolphins should get his head checked , he will pass all tests , then demand he report to team facilities asap. The big puss will quit on his own.

The real problem he will have in finding another team is- he's not very good. Tons of teams would take the risk on him if he was a solid player, but adding a sub par guy with tons of baggage makes little sense.

Look for him to end up with the 49ers and his old coach Jim Harbaugh eventually. Harbaugh has of course come out and defended him recently and he may be the only one that could get his team to accept Martin into the fold.

Alex Boone may be Richie Incognito 2.0 lol

Pay him nothing, if he wants a release he can man up for once and tell the team that's what he wants. This game he and his parents are playing makes me sick. Dragging an entire franchise through the dirt, so he can sit st home amd still get paid. This is disgraceful, even if he believes he truly was bullied.

I can guarantee you, every owner in the NFL has already called Ross, and told him not to give Martin a damn thing. His parents know damn well, a court battle is a lost cause with the NFL.

But what happens if the NFL throw the Dolphins under the bus?

Your correct if he flat out wants his outright release. If not, you really have to kiss is *** a little. Money helps make things go away.

Keep him on the NFI list and make him take psychological evaluations.

HE LEFT THE TEAM.

Don't pay him a damn dime. Let him sue for his contract so the lawyers take half.

They can't release him; they'll get sued for wrongful firing. They can't put him on the NFI list until the investigation is complete. They have to allow him to be paid until the process is completed. They cannot trade him; the deadline is passed. I would hold his rights for the rest of the year. If you want to play, you're coming right back into this locker room. You'll never see the field and be inactive every game. In the end of the year, I trade him to the worst team possible, for anything they would give me, even if it's a dollar. Have fun Johnny.

So Martin is now not even a solid player. He started 23 straight games Im sure he can make soe team as a backup and start on some teams. Baggage yes but I guarantee he would be signed in no time.
