It was a little awkward, but I've been wanting to drop that on sombodyI think it does.

I love the unmasking of the wrestler analogy...good stuff. Made me chuckle.
Not really, because the Dolphins organization is contingent on fans' perceptions and purchases to sustain itself, and so the Dolphins' view of those perceptions will in large part drive what they do as an organization, regardless of how "strong" or "weak" they appear.
This is why the "court of public opinion" often results in settlements that have little to do with guilt or innocence. Sometimes making the issue go away is the "win."
Exactly, and the court of public opinion is the game that Martin playing the dolphins and trying to force them to pay his contract or at least some of it. Its an all win for him, no win for the phins. Can one man and a agent out muscle an organization, we will see. And yes giving in to Martin is showing how weak the organization is, if they cant win. Already Martin has you right where he planned all along.
I would dig in. I don't want to reward Martin for this farce. He could have handled in a professional, responsible way. He chose not to. It would set an awful precedent for future players angling to get cut and have their money too.
I still think Martin is mentally disturbed. You don't try to make a point with a mentally disturbed person. You play nice and convince them to go make life uncomfortable for someone else.
This guy will be a hit in the Gender Studies faculty room at Stanford or another California university. And he can stay close to home, where his folks can keep an eye on him. The Dolphins can get back to playing football. Everybody wins.
twix, the Dolphins can not win with the media. This thing pushed the right political buttons for them. Keith Olbermann and the rest of them will not change their minds no matter what is released. It's just like with national politics: I can think of at least one politician who could get up on live TV and take a dump into someone's mouth (Richie style) and people still wouldn't change their minds about him either way.
Even if Martin reaches a settlement which I doubt this seems like posturing, there is no guarantee the NFL closes it's investigation. Did the Freeh Inveatigation get discontinued in Penn State with firings and convictions?
Oh, they will continue with the investigation. But at that point, the NFL investigator, whose job it is to protect the NFL from liability, will be sure not to find anything too damning or inflammatory, I can promise you that. At least not for the public.
It'll be another "Roger Goodell burns the tapes" incident.
