PFT Power Rankings - Dolphins at #31

Yeah, why be optimistic about your favorite team. It's so much more fun to be negative and expect bad things to happen. It's what fans are supposed to do, right? If you're tired of the dolphins and are always negative, maybe it's time to find a new team to root for? If that's not a possibility, it would be nice to not rehash all the "question marks" in every thread, even some of the positive threads. It's very tiresome.

Hahah what a weak response... why not be hopeful for the best and be realistic at the same time? So if the Cleveland Browns fans don't expect a Superbowl every season that means they need to find a new team to root for (they probably should though)?

Some people are LOGICAL some people just have blind optimism. I hope they win 12 games and make a deep run in the playoffs - it's POSSIBLE. I am hopeful. But I have zero expectations for this team anymore. Doesn't mean I'm not going to watch every game, I'm just not going to expect a 10+ win season then come back here and have a melt down like some people do.

Get a grip, this is real life.

Hey bud, who on this site has said Miami will win the SB? Stop being so dramatic. People that are optimistic are hoping for playoffs. That is realistic and a good expectation, seeing as how they barely missed the playoffs with a crap oline and crap OC

if things break right you can, it made sense to rank Miami near the bottom heading into 2008 but things broke perfectly and you played really well and won the division. any team can make the playoffs.

Nah. Miami's made them once in 12 years. They stink. Bad.

Who are you referring to? The human pot-stirrer?

Yeah, a question mark on a team like the Patriots definitely doesn't mean an automatic negative outcome - because there is an established history of success. When you have an established history of failure, you'd be foolish to EXPECT positive outcomes. It's just basic logic.

most recent history shows an 8-8 team which means an equal amount of success and failure. it's not logical to expect more of either one

Well look at you being pessimistic.

I was being realistic. I had positive comments, negative comments, but mostly statements that I simply don't know because they are unknown. We just happen to have a ton of unknowns. That's something you don't find on perennial playoff teams. Expecting all of those question marks to work out is like expecting all of your 6th round picks to turn into Tom Brady. But hey, if you want to automatically assume they are going to all work out peachy, by all means, do it. Maybe this year you'll be right and we can move on from 2008 being the sad highlight of many Phins fans lives.

OK I'm biased, but there is no way that Miami is expected to finish 31st in the NFL. There is more talent in the team than at any point in the past 15 years. I am extremely optimistic that the team will make the playoffs this year. This is just ridiculous.
I am left to conclude that there is a negative agenda against the Dolphins. Certain journalistists/reporters/tweeters repeatedly attack the team, our owner, our Head Coach, our GM and our players. A deliberate negative spin occurs against our team more than most others. There is also a negative agenda against the Jets and the Browns. I can only conclude that certain writers are getting paid off to repeatedly spin stories to make certain teams look bad and we are #1 on the list - (maybe they are on the cheese factory payroll?)
Jason LaCanfora and Mike Florio are obvious haters and now we can add Josh Alper.

I'm just curious, is there some benefit to pushing an anti-Dolphins agenda? We haven't been relevant in over a decade, so it certainly isn't feeding off of hatred of the top dog (see anti-Heat and anti-Spurs "agendas"). About the only thing I can think of is that it riles up those who only want to read nice things about the team and can't help but click on the articles, get super angry, and rush to a message board to post about how angry they are about said article, with a link, of course.

Im talking about the ones who look for every single angle to slam the team when it has nothing to do with anything. I came on here one time and somebody was slamming Philbin because he was a bad parent and therefore makes him a bad coach. In what world does that make any sense whatsoever, and that is what becomes unbearable sometimes because it is so stupid and has no basis in fact at all. As a fan I have the right to root for my team to win as much as possible and you are free to disagree, but that goes both ways. so when you are called out for getting your panties in a twist don't pull the i'm a "realist card".

*By the way im not singling you out but it is something that happens here alot.*

When you are the largest Phins fansite on the interwebs, you are no doubt going to draw the extremists from both sides, the anti-Philbin, Tannehill blows extremists you mentioned and the every move the team makes is amazing, media has an agenda!1! crew on the opposite side of the spectrum. The bigger problem, IMO, is lumping everyone together. Most don't fit into either of those extremes. Those that do just happen to be really vocal, like extremists in most things in life.

As for my realist card, I'll absolutely pull it. I made both positive and negative statements (sorry, but a ton of question marks is not a positive in my book). When you are a non-playoff team for most of the past decade, you are likely going to have more of the latter. Disagree? Great, feel free to counter and discuss. Sadly, some want to focus on the fans instead, calling them bums and whatnot simply because they don't like what they said about their favowit team. (not you)

These guys can not make an unbiased rankings. I am really in need of a new site to get my football info from. Finheaven is my first source for Dolphins news...screw PFT.

IMO, it's naive to think there are no biases or agendas with sports writers/personalities. It's human nature. I know if it were me, I would highlight every negative story on the Jets that came along.

Writers like PFT and Omar have one "agenda": What's going to get the most clicks? Nothing gets more views than pissed off fans whining about a meanie thing written about their team. Shock jocks figured that out years ago. So, by all means, keep reading it and keep sharing it. They love it.

All the more reason to discredit them

You have Geno Smith as QB. Let that sink in.

Why are you here????

he led the jets to 2nd place in the division, bruh. 2nd best qb in the division. makes perfect sense.

lol, after I typed that, I was really thinking to myself, Geno's not even 4th best qb in the division. He's around 6th or 7th.
