PFT: Rams respond to Finnegan's comments

Is there a point you are trying to make? Maybe I missed it, please elaborate.

Like I said, you keep going back to PFF like its some measuring stick as to how a player will perform, while PFF completely disregards other important circumstances. I stand by my statement.

Just that if you disagree with something, there should be a reason, unless I missed it on Clabo.

PFF is a measuring stick in showing how a player did the year before. I don't know of another, other than NFL but not on the OL.

I'm one of the guys who thinks we need 2 new safeties (Delmas doesnt have much left in those knees and Jones thinks he's a LB), but I dont think our safeties will effect Finnegan like the Ram's safeties did because we don't play the same kind of defensive scheme the Rams played.

i thinks miamis scheme brings the lbs more and puts more pressure on the secondary one on one...the rams depend on that front four specifically the edge guys to get home and win up front more than miami does with the sub package etc...

in other words i think you get less help with our scheme...

Thats where I think Finnegan will be better. He didn't become a worse athlete in St Louis, and he can still run with most WR's. The problem wit St Louis is that they had him playing the run, playing underneath the WR, passing him off to the safeties, playing CB traps, ect - he's much better just running with his man and playing the ball imo. I think Coyle will let him do that.

I disagreed that Clabo was the 5th best RT heading into the 2013 season. Do I really need to give a reason why that assessment was wrong?

Guess not but. a reason why would be a good thing. Did you watch him play? Was it based on opinions of others?

Oh well, never mind not important.

Of course I watched him play. If I didn't watch him play, and just deferred every players ability to a PFF ranking, then I would be agreeing with you.

Another measuring stick is contract amount and we got Clabo relatively cheap for a starting probowl RT, which probably means most other GMs in the league disagreed that he was the 5th best RT in the NFL, in fact just based on the contract numbers I would say most other GMs predicted he would be pretty terrible...

Its kind of along the same lines as Satele looked decent to me in the few games I watched but the Colts cut him to save a measly $4 million and nobody else seems interested so he must not be very good.

What did you see, and who was better. The sacks and hits are fact, and speak for themselves.

Why should we take you opinion over PFF, who spent over 160 hours, a full month's worth of work in watching him and his team over the year? Do you believe yourself to be better? Just curious.

PFF is above all still just an opinion and should be regarded as such.

This has become a very boring debate. I post PFF for those posters who do not have access, and it is something different. Anyone can disagree, as many do with many others. Take it FWIW but, if ya disagree give a reason why.

If most posters here do not want to see it, I will simply stop posting it. I have better things to do than take the time to look things up to put up with this pointless nonsense. Some posters belive they know more, and are not even close to compare.

to me, PFF is a good conversation starter or argument supporter but shouldn't be regarded as fact or the final word on a subject.

Who and what do you believe should be? A poster who says a guy sucks after seeing him in a game or two, and says nothing as to why?

No one has final word, even the coaches. It is all subject to opinion, to a degree. However, if you have one, give some semblance of a reason as to why. Some posters spend time and effort in looking at film, which I admire and respect, and give reason for their opinions, mostly VG.

Others, not at all. JMO

Just ranting a bit, as I'm grown very tired of this topic.

Isnt that exactly what PFF does? A guy at PFF (who you dont even know his name or qualifications) watches a game and gives you a positive or negative number on his play...how is that different than if someone on this forum watches the same game and tells you he played bad or good. As far as I know, PFF gives no explanation of why they give the grades they give. I'm not sure what you are expecting from people who post on football forums, but asking them to write a book report on a ****ty RT is not worth anyone's time.

that's all I'm saying. PFF's ranking of a player at #15 is no more correct than someone else who might see them at #25

This is the argument I completely agree with.

I don't need PFF to tell me what my own eyes are seeing.
If anything its all opinion and should be regard as such.
