PFT: Rumors persist that Carl Peterson will be running the Dolphins

this article excites me, it mentions cowher, colbert, and khan, i could see cowher head coach, kevin colbert gm, and peterson vp of operations, ill take that all day over what we just went through, if we can get colbert in here things will turn around, look at the how they draft and put together personnel in pitt!

That would suck. Guy did absolutely nothing with KC.

Yeah. He did nothing. They were only the winningest NFL team during the 1990s under his watch, after having two winning seasons in the 15 years before he took over. They also sold out the largest capacity stadium 149 straight times under his watch. He also drafted the players that spearheaded KC's rise last year - Jamaal Charles, Dwayne Bowe, Tamba Hali, Glenn Dorsey, Branden Albert, Brandon Flowers.....etc. He made one bad head coaching hire and two excellent (Marty and Dick), and KC had only 6 losing seasons in his 20 years as President and GM.

Fact is, Carl Peterson is not nearly as bad as many Dolphins fans want to paint him. Too many are looking at his last two years in KC and painting that as his entire career, but they are completely ignoring the fact that he took over a moribund franchise in 1989 and built the winningest team in the NFL over a 10 year period. Unlike Parcells, Carl Peterson is actually a proven franchise builder.

A lot of people want Richard Ball to be the GM. Do you know who Richard Ball learned under? Carl Peterson in Kansas City from 1989-2000.

In the 90´s? So did Parcells...

Parcells hasn't won anywhere that he has been responsible for the franchise, and he also hasn't won without Bill Belichick. Carl Peterson won with Marty Schottenhiemer, and he won with Dick Vermiel.

yeah like KB said, you can do a lot worse than Peterson. I wasn't a fan when his name first came up, but looking at his resume, he was a pretty good drafter even in his last few years. The thing that screwed him over was he was in love with Herm Edwards and it turned out to be a poor decision.

Bellicheat hasn´t won anything without Brady, ask the Browns...

I do not have issues with it...if it means Ireland goes with Tony.

Bet 4 years ago Parcells made you feel the same way...

Peterson is responsible for bringing Cowher, Tony Dungy, and Mike McCarthy (coach of Super bowl champ Packers) into success.......... all 3 of them were hired by Peterson to work as assistant coaches for the Chiefs.

the problem is, the Chiefs only reached ONE AFC championship game and never won a super bowl.

I mean, he has ties with Bill Cowher, and if you want Cowher as our coach, then this is good news and you can see Ross' plan unfolding........

but the Chiefs never won squat. in his 20 years there.

I have to say.......IS THIS GOING TO BE ANOTHER PARCELLS SITUATION? Where we bring in another old fart who uses ANCIENT philosophies on football?

Idk why everyone is so down on Herm Edwards too? The guy has made the playoffs numerous times.

I am not saying I am a big fan of Peterson, but didn't he make the Chiefs into consistent winners in the 90's? I remember them having some strong teams and some great defenses led by the late Derrick Thomas. They had a slew of good running backs too.

in the 90's dan henning was relevant...

The Chiefs had some strong teams but the reason they never had a chance at the Super Bowl was because they didn't have the quarterback to get them there. Other than Joe Montana at the end of his career and getting them to the AFC Championship game against Buffalo, they had guys like Elvis Grbac, Steve Bono, Rich Gannon, and Steve DeBerg at quarterback. This was before Rich Gannon went to the Raiders and turned into a good quarterback.
