Exactly, although given the situation, it could have also meant they were weary of taking a chance on Shockey or Olsen due to the history of injuries.
 
Totally wasted 2nd-round pick, which was really more like a low 1st.
 
Most logical choice to be traded from the defense. I figured he would have been packaged in with the Orton trade, but that one obviously fell through (we think).
 
why give up your 2nd best tight end for philip merling when you can just wait until ryan baker is cut and grab him for nothing.
 
what about the vikes they have a few goo tightends

I'll be suprised if Miami can get a quality TE straight up in a trade for Merling, but I'd love to see if Baltimore would be willing to trade Ed Dickson. I'd also like to see the Jets cut Jeff Cumberland and Miami scoop him up. That's a guy Jeff Ireland needs to keep an eye on...

I disagree with that. He is usually in the thick of things on plays. Lazy? Haven't seen that.

Merling........... another BUST for this FO just like White, Jerry, Odrick, Murphy, and the countless others.
