Phillip Wheeler has to go.

Wheeler is active enough that I could see him improving next season. With Ellerbe, I think we're stuck. How can he improve when he freezes at the outset of every play? I had my doubts about that signing based on watching the Ravens last year and Ellerbe seldom stood out. Even when he made a play it was more or less handed to him, like the clinching interception in the playoff win at New England.

Misi seems confident and physical enough to handle Ellerbe's role.

Yeah, while Wheeler hasn't been good by any stretch, I haven't lost hope in him. Ellerbe, too, I think will improve but the guy is SLOW. Maybe he needs to lose 5-10lbs, just seems like his feet are stuck in concrete.

I think a full year in this system and with the players around them will help them both improve. Our defense is significantly better this year than last year and I see us improving our D going into next year.

Worst Dolphin linebacker I've seen since Akin Ayodele. The guy is useless.

The end zone replay of Buffalo's touchdown run capsulized our two new linebackers very well. Ellerbe was frozen in his tracks and Wheeler took a poor angle. Multiply by every game this season and that's why our rush defense is more vulnerable than it should be. The inside runs that should be encountered after 2 or 3 yards gain 5 or 6.

Today I thought we were fortunate a few times when Buffalo screwed around instead of hammering us, notably when they drove to our 40 leading 10-0 past midway second quarter. That possession ended on Lewis' interception on second down.

Ellerbe handed Buffalo that TD. Dansby would have rocked that dude on his heels for trying to come up the middle in the redzone. Jones was godawful yesterday again. His move to the deep safety spot hasn't worked at all. He's late arriving to everything because he lacks instinct and takes poor angles.

Well...I might not know much about much, but I know two things:

1) The Wheeler penalty made me so angry that I turned and punched a hole in my wall. That is only the second time in my life I've done that.

2) "Go back to football school" might be the worst attempt at an insult I've ever seen.

We probably should think about trying to draft some linebackers at some point...

you think wheeler needs to go??? dudes an embarrassment

no point in harping on this one yesterday...we got owned in all phases...oline and pass pro horrendous...brenner one on one with kyle williams was a massive mistake he collapsed every pocket the entire game pretty much...mckinnie just a terrible game and clabo power rushed by mario i own you tyson williams...

couldn't run the ball to save our lives...wouldn't have mattered much with the pass protection we got yesterday from the backs as well...we got rbs getting run over by damn corners and safety blitzers of late...guys that we have the protection set up for but theyare just blowing the assignments...

nolan carroll with a bad game too...way too many 3rd and long conversions coming from his man all game...lb play vs the run horrid can't even cover that white tight end who's not sudden at all...let that crap qb bleed the clock with long drives...gashed again by the damn screen game...

weather was killer...20 plus mph winds and freaking freezing rain...i don't know how much worse it could have been to be honest...but the oline just took a giant dump all game long...

brian hartline with a horrid effort...crucial drops when tannehill did have time to go to him the ball down the sideline on the improv what they hell you doing leaving your feet run thru the damn thing and you might score...hartline was terrible

oh well don't deserve to play in the postseason but still got a shot if we can win at home and cinci can beat baltimore...both likely...anyone know who the flexed game is next sunday night??? cause if its cinci balt dammit all cinci could if things go a certain way in the early games not have anything to play for...hoping they aren't the flex game

god dang qb getting killed all game long...finally caught up with him...just too much damn contact...in the damn pocket no less

No hoops cinci/Balt remained at 1 so they'd have something to play for. New England/buffalo was moved to 4:25 I believe.

well that's great news for us...great news

so if we beat the jets and cinci beats balt we in right as the #6???

We are in with:

1. A win and a Balt loss

Or

2. A win and a San Diego win

If we lose we're out.

i should have thought about this more but buffalo just had too many mismatches against our oline...i figured the interior would be able to handle williams and dareus cause we handled an even better jets interior front vs the jets but the jets dont have a win edge rusher to take so much attention like the bills do with mario williams...and his presence has killed us this year

kyle williams dareus and mario williams is a nasty front...especially when mckinnie is getting beat by edge blitzers he doesnt even get out of his stance on and guys he should have been able to handle...serious dissapointment game from mckinnie yesterday...and we should have given brenner more help with williams but they schemed it well

completely owned on the los all game yesterday...owned

Wheeler counts $6.4 million against our salary cap if he is on the roster; $10.6 million if he's not. Unfortunately, that means he'll be on the roster next season, but either Jelani Jenkins pushes him for the starting job in the offseason or we draft another outside linebacker who will. But in 2015 he is gone.

If we cut Wheeler today, we have to eat $6 million in guaranteed money, on top of the $7 million we already paid him. That's $13 million total for 1 year.

But lets face it, as much as Wheeler blows, he wasn't the reason we lost yesterday.

57 freaking sacks...couldn't run many 3 step drops stuff cause the collapse was in a nanosecond...hell tannehill got hit on 3 step ball out stuff repeatedly....tried to adjust to 2 tight end sets coming out of the half but couldn't run the ball for even a yard the d never collapsed on the edge vs the read op cause the interior played it so damn well they didnt have to...went back to more shotgun to give the qb some space didnt matter...train wreck pockets all game long...

stunts where the bills rushers were holding our protectors not allowing them to switch on the fly not once called...

Thread premise in error, Ireland has never had a bad signing. It was Parcells.

That was funny in 2009. Actually no, it wasn't even funny then. Time to get on with your life buddy.

it's gibril wilson and jake grove all over again level bad...miami completed whiffed on that guys market...wheeler is now getting attacked in the run and pass game repeatedly...he's wearing a target...pretty much what i expected off my preseason looks at the guy...eye sore

that said dannell ellerbe isn't much better...this lb unit is just god awful...koa misi and one developmental guy that shows no instincts right now in jelani jenkins but can run and cover...

getting back to the wheeler horrible face mask play he's got inside help from the safety reshad jones on the play there is no reason to reach out and grab like that on that play...none...just a retard...2nd time at least this year he's made a dumbass decision and given teams long clock killing drives...

i can't stand that dude...he plays like he's dumb as a box of rocks
