Phins OL Looking Better Today, and With Options

Im not really sure how the line is gonna shape out. Quality starters are starting to run thin but there is the deep draft. With Smith most likely being LG they need to fins a quality starter for LG or RT because its not the safest plan to go with two rookies on the right side. If Smith can Play RG which I have seen on here he isn't as good at getting a rookie LG and RT would be ideal.

For me i would like to Martin in the first round and either Yankey/Su'a Filo in the second or Joel Bitonio in the third. Those line would look like:

Albert-Yankey/Su'a Filo-Pouncey-Smith-Martin
or
Albert-Martin-Smith-Pouncey-Smith-Bitonio

I think we wait until after round 4 for the oline at this point. We have LT, LG, C covered with new players. We can draft guards in rounds 4-6 and sign another RT in FA.
I think we go defense(Linebackers) or TE in round 1 and 3. Running back in round 2.
Just my .02
the draft is deep with OT's, we could go BPA in the first round for sure

that being said, it would be great if we didn't need to go CB in the first round(ie our 1013 draftees are not busts).

DE/DT should not be a priority, so BPA in the OT, S, OG, TE, CB, LB, WR realm IMO

I can't help it if you don't have a clue. Albert was guaranteed $25 million and Pouncey is about to become a free agent soon and he will demand a large chunk of guaranteed money. If you go after Alex Mack, you would have to offer him a large sum of guaranteed money and a contract that would most likely have to be ridicules in order for the Browns not to match it seeing that they transition tagged him and they had more salary cap space than Miami at the start of free agency. That would be a lot of money tied up in your offensive line, especially when Miami hasn't had to pay franchise QB money yet, which is exactly what is going to happen if Tannehill becomes the player everyone hopes he will become within the next two years.

OK, now I have a clue, lol. Miami is signing Pouncey's option, and he will not be a FA until 2016. Mack is a SHOCKER pipe dream option and not realistic. With Pouncey the same, we paid a lot more for our OL last year than so far this year by around $8-10M.

RT has two more years to go, and the cap will go up another $20M or more by then, in addition to many other changes on the team. I believe we can easily spend another $8M this year on the OL in FA.

There is no way this team has a game plan of relying on late rounds for two starters on the O-line.

They will either get them in free agency (and that well is drying up)...or they will draft them very high.

As of now we still have a pretty poor o-line. Unless we sign another pretty solid lineman like Straif or maybe 2 decent ones....I still think we go o-line in round 1

I agree..unless possibly they get Strief or another bona fide starting RT....If so they might wait until rounds 2 or 3 to finish the line...but not the late rounds as some suggest.

Is FA over? Why are people acting like they are done working on the line? Further, why do some think they can't work on other positions of need at the same time? Settle down. It's a long offseason.

No one said that that I recall....but the O-lineman well is drying up fast....it's just a fact that short of finding bona fide starters in free agency....This team will have to go O-line high in the draft.

This, and finding fits to the ZBS makes it more difficult. I still think we will get a good OG from FA but, it's looking more and more like a 1 year band aid. I'm not as concerned at RT, as there is more FA depth and a lot in the draft as well.

It's not over but almost all the good o-linemen are gone. And the couple good ones left (Strief and Penn) don't want to come to Miami

When did Strief or his agent say he didn't want to come to Miami? Can't knock a guy for having some loyalty to his home team and trying to work out a deal with them.....sheesh

He is refusing to take a visit, doesn't that tell you something. Not knocking him at all, but its clear he doesn't want to be in Miami

I see where you're coming from, but I'm looking at it with this analogy. I'm not going to be talked into test driving a Toyota when I'm perfectly content in my Ford. Now if my Ford breaks down (Saints can't resign him due to $$) then I think we may see him mosy on over for a test drive.

They have quite clearly been implying it in this thread and many others. The "Pro Bowl ( )" well is drying up, but you don't need a line full of Pro Bowlers. There are still plenty of options left, both in FA and in the draft, not to mention post-draft moves, trades, etc. It's ****ing March. People need to calm down.

Also, they don't "have" to go OL high in the draft if there are better options available. As of right now, Martin appears to be the only OL worth the 19th pick, barring somebody falling dramatically, and only because of his versatility. Outside of him, you are reaching out of pure desperation, which is exactly the kind of moves **** teams make. So, if we want to continue down the path we've been on for over a decade, that is most certainly the way to go.

Love the way you word it. I haven't read up on Penn, so I can't comment on that, but I have been following Strief and it's quite clear that he wants to stay in New Orleans, the team he's been with his entire career. It has nothing to do with Miami or the organization.
