Phins Risk With Rookie Starter On OL

No more of a risk than having vet stop gaps that are past their prime except the rookies will improved from year to year and the vets deteriorate. I dont even see huge risk with 2 on the OL. Only thing i could see risk at is two rookies on the same side.

I could care less about PFF stats. I look at the fact that the bears Offence was very successful with 2 rookies, KC had a great year with a rookie on the line, Eagles had and explosive offence that help keep them in games to win with a rookie on the line, Flucker was on a top offense all year.

Other than those above Joeckel was on the woeful Jags, Warmack was solid but really had no weapons so teams could bring the house, Pugh for the giants and that was just a dysfunctional team from start to finish, Watson was on the raiders filling in far a top guy and had difficulty filling those shoes.

Not to mention that this draft is expected to be head and shoulders better than lasts with strong depth at OL.

They say running right but, do not mention running behind the RT 18 times for a 9.4 average, and going outside with the TE 53 times for a 5.2 average. Very misleading.

Your stats are just as misleading. Maybe long made all his blocks but the tackle came from a missed block on the inside or outside? Maybe it was longs downblock that opend the hole behind the RT? Maybe long pulled to help run block behid the TE? These are all reasons why PFF does not show the whole story and is far from telling on how good a guy plays or how bad he plays. For all we know a guy could fall flat on his face miss a block and the RB makes a good move and gets a 50 yard run with the defense missing tackles, all while the guy gets credit for the yards because it was his hole.

I'm not disputing what you are saying I just don't think PFF would have voted Long to their all rookie team if he was as bad as you say he was.

Not saying he was bad, and would love to have him. Just pointing out what top picks did last year, and we are not picking that high

It appears that you do not know of how PFF grades, and what they do.

considering we gave up 58 sacks last year, id rather trust some top rookies than what we currently have.

With two rookies on line IM not sure we could be worse its possible but outside of Pouncey our oline was terrible last year no matter what PFF says

dont really care either, just another set of pointless stats.

Pointless? Not sure about that. Every GM and scout evaluates states, video, character, Health and body of work.. pointless, I don't think so.. Just another piece of the puzzle..

well PFF said we had an average oline but not many gms are scrambling to sign these average guys to anything above minimum. Hell our starting guard last year signed a 1 yr 700,000 dollar contract.

Filo or Zach Martin in first and Mason or Sankey in second. Instant Offense upgrades that will score points.

A lot of people keep saying this is a stong draft for OL. Can anyone come up with a top 20 list so we could see how close it plays out in the draft.

I think there was way more risk starting Pouncy at Center as a rookie over a rookie RT but that's me. We were fine with Pouncey, we will be fine at RT. Non issue in my eyes.

Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't but the constant reliance on PFF needs to stop. It's a useful tool but it should not be the gospel.

Especially for OL. That and CB are their worst analysis targets.

I would feel a lot better if we got some more FAs for the OL. I think we can expect to see another bad year out of this unit. Hopefully, it just won't be AS BAD as last year.
