Phinsanity's Get Real - What did you expect?

It's ****ing crazy that we actually have to read on a message board. What is this world coming to?
Speak for yourself, I'm here for the sig pics.

I am getting REAL sick of losing at HOME....
1-7 last year...

even wanstach won at home

Come to think of it, didnt we lose like 2 or 3 in a row at home finishing the 09 season? That would make us something like 1-11 in our last 12 home games. Unreal. Someone needs to research that stat to find out what it is precisely. Im not going to ****ing do it, thats for sure. I didnt come here to research. Im here strictly for the reading.

yes in 09, we lost our final 2 at home to houston and tenn. then last year 1-7 and this year 0-1. that leaves us with a outstanding record of 1-10 in our last 11 home games.

Nice write up. Pretty much agree with all of it.

I'm surprised to say this, but I saw lots of positives on the offense despite the Oline, Run game, and a few RZ questions. Few things need to get better and some tweaking to others, and we might be pretty darn solid on O. The D....honestly can't think of a positive thing to say, other than maybe, well at least they didn't give up 600+ yards to Brady. Looked gassed and out of shape, which is inexcusable, and know way do I buy it that they were ready and prepared for the no huddle and just didn't execute. They looked lost half the night. Did we really even make any defensive adjustments all game?

Thinking about it, Id actually pay to listen to an audio Fins board. After loses would be pure, 24 karat gold. Can you imagine hearing some clowns trying to piece their thoughts together while in a boiling rage?

I'd listen just for the numerous redneck and Yankee accents we'd hear.

Well, I'm glad you waited a day before posting. I wish more people would. People tend to be all up in arms immediately following a loss.

Most people aren't thinking clearly in the off-season....much less immediately following a loss. It's good to walk away, breathe, collect your thoughts, and make clear-headed assessments about the team.

And I love how you've squashed the "Henne Haters" nonsense. It's like I've said all along, guys like you and I aren't "Henne Haters", we're just dudes who demand a lot more from guys in leadership positions. You play like ****, I'm gonna let you know about it. You play as well as you did last night, I'll be the first one to congratulate you. Nolan Carroll played like a dick biscuit last night. Am I a "Carroll Crusher?" No. Just a guy who points out the fact that Carroll played like ****.

I'm a fan of the Miami Dolphins. I am NOT a "player fan" or "wear my jersey to dinner" guy.

Eh, I probably shouldn't respond to this thread but I've got to take issue with this. Posters like you and WV (and many others) weren't just saying that Henne played like **** against opponent X. You were saying he was **** as a player. You were making a final evaluation. You were -- by extension -- advocating a course of action personnel-wise.

To say now that all you were looking for was a certain standard of play and if he meets it you're happy and if he doesn't you're unhappy is, in my view, somewhat simplistic. A guy can play well for a time and be **** as a player. And a guy can play like **** and still have talent that should be nurtured. Anybody can look at someone who's playing well and say that they're playing well, just as anyone can look at someone can look at someone who's playing poorly and say that they're playing poorly. The trick of the personnel business is telling the truly talented from the also rans and being able to look at a player who's struggling, see why they're struggling, and be able to tell whether it's worth the effort to try and put them in a position to succeed.

So my point is that if you're going to use the standard I've highlighted above and you're not going to be making any far reaching statements about how player X blows and should be run out of town or player X has talent and should stay, then fine.

But forgive me if I'm wrong -- and if I'm unfairly characterizing what you've been saying around here I sincerely apologize, but I know I'm speaking accurately as to the feelings of others -- but that's not what you were doing. You saw him play. You judged that play on an overall basis. You judged that he had no future.

Now, don't get me wrong. I'm not spiking the ball and declaring victory on him by any means. AT ALL. But there's been a lot of **** directed at people who thought Henne had ability and could thrive under different coaching and a different scheme. And I think we all know that if this season turns out to be an utter disaster that the people who said that and advocated for him will be ridiculed (either directly or by proxy) just as those who thought John Beck was going to turn into a good player and defended him were ridiculed.

Now, I'm not the vindictive sort. And I don't approve of hazing (unless it's junc). But to a certain extent what's good for the goose is good for the gander. I've been wrong about plenty of things and like anybody else I don't enjoy having it pointed out, but the fact of the matter is that this is a message board and the currency of the realm is opinions. And as long as that's true I think we should all be held accountable for those opinions. If Henne turns into a good quarterback then people who said he was an awful hunk of **** who should be dropped into the nearest open sewer should at least admit (if to no one but themselves) that they were wrong about him, not hide behind some self-congratulatory banner of "high standards." And if the other night turns out to be an apparition rather than a trend then those who advocated for him should admit that they were wrong.

You can believe that I will.

Chad Henne played well. I can admit that. I can admit that without flinching. I'm fair. Always have been.

But just because he played one great game doesn't mean I'm ready to declare him the franchise QB. You gotta be consistent in this league. One game doesn't make you a superstar. The same people who defended Henne after every poor performance crushed Kyle Orton last night.

Why didn't any of those "homers" blame Denver's offensive coordinator the way they did Dan Henning?

See what I'm getting at here? If Henne is the guy, then GREAT because we don't have to start from scratch again. You dudes can read what you want to read and comprehend it how you want to comprehend it, but what I'm saying NOW is what I've said all along.

This "Henne Hater" **** is something everyone else has made up in their own little minds.

Houston on Sunday. Do it again.

Ill be the first to admit that I absolutely though Henne was trash and wanted him replaced. Looks as if I may be wrong, but its a good thing. Im gonna call it like i see it. Youre gonna be wrong sometimes but thats just how it goes.

please tell me that you're not trying to say dan henning was not a HUGE problem last year...i hope thats not what you're getting at cane...and you know i watched kyle orton last night and all those people pining for tebow in the stands don't know what they're asking for...kyle orton had no chance last night...it wasn't his fault the dline ate his oline for lunch all night...

and i'm not a pro kyle orton guy to begin with...as we all know...but tebow wouldn't have made any difference in that game either...

No. That wasn't about Dan Henning or anything. It's just how fans of THEIR team make excuses for any and everything but for every other team it's cut and dry and it's on the player ALWAYS.

Dan Henning was ****. But why isn't the offensive coordinator for Denver **** too? Why is it absolutely Kyle Orton sucks from the homer camp here?

See what I'm saying?

Because every situation is different. How the quarterback plays isn't a cut and dried thing.

Again, there's nothing wrong with having standards and nothing wrong with being pissed when those standards aren't met. But the guys who said he had talent and could turn out to be good and got killed for saying it deserve the credit if they turn out to be right just as they would get the blame if they were wrong. Taking a stand subjects you to that risk. And that reward. Just as taking a stand that the guy blows and needs to be replaced subjects you to that risk and that reward.

Now if you're saying you never took that stand on him, that you were/are judging him week to week and had no overall evaluation, then fine. But is that what you're really saying?

As for the "Henne Haters" label. I doubt if you searched my posts you would find that term. I stayed out of most of these debates for the sake of my own sanity the fact that I don't like having to buy a new computer because I broke the one I have smashing it against a brick wall. But posters I like and respect, like RobertHorry, got subjected to a lot of abuse and condescension. It's important to me that people like him get the credit if the thing turn out roses and that the people who thought otherwise not weasel out of what they said and thought.

Kyle Orton played terribly. And everyone said Kyle Orton sucks...which is warranted...but no blame is ever place on an offensive coordinator here. The people here will always blame the player for sucking on another team. But here they defend players until they're gone and blame offensive and defensive coordinators. Can't the offensive and defensive coordinators weather some of the blame for other teams in the league?
