Don't bash me here. Most of you may think I'm crazy for criticizing this defense, but the competition is going to get tougher from here on out, and I think this is a legit concern....

One thing that stood out yesterday, was the lack of a consistant pass rush. Sure, there were tons of "pressures", but no sacks. I'm not going to complain all things considered, but if we're truly going to make some waves this year, we'll need to get more physical up front. The Broncos were worn down, but we wont have the humidity to rely on when we're on the road this year. Especially when NOV / DEC roll around....

I was very impressed with the way we stacked up though. DT K. Traylor is turning out to be a very wise, late off-season addition. He was a major force yesterday in stopping the run, and I think once we made the Broncos offense one demensional, the game was ours.....

Considering how skiddish Pennington looked yesterday when facing the blitz, we'll need to do the same if we expect to beat the Jets on their home turf. They'll be out for blood this Sunday, so I'm not expecting us to just waltz in there and push them around. The Jets are going to be playing this game like their season depends on it. We'll be flying high. Not a good situation for us IMO....

I agree and this is where the coaching and veteran leadership will get its first test of the year if we come out flat we will lose.

The pressure was fine.....

Plummer just did a great job of scrambling.....

Nothing to see here....move on folks.

We stopped the Broncos offense...i think Saban and the defense is running the right calls

If it weren't for Plummer's insane ability to not go down, JT alone would have had 3 sacks. 2 of those plays, Plummer should have gone down... but some how some way he managed to get the pass off.

Yeah, I thought the pressure was fine. Taylor basically had Plummer down on two occasions but somehow Plummer got away. The strip at the end of the game counts as a sack so we did get one. I also distinctly remember Kevin Carter forcing Jake outside and making him throw it incomplete.

If anyone has a tape, take a lok at our blitzing. Denver timed their cut blocks perfectly and seemed to pick up our blitzes very well. Had this been any other team, I think you would have seen more havoc in the backfield. Denver's saving grace was that damned technique.

I thought the D-line was pretty effective....

No question it was effective. Very effective. I'm just worried about us being able to continue that trend whe we're faced up against the stronger OL's out there this year....

But for now, I can live with "effective". It made the entire defense effective too...Maybe I shouldn't worry so much....

I too think the pressure was there. Plummer made a couple Houdini-like escapes when he had guys running right at him. The times he did have time to scan the field, he was confused by what the secondary was doing.

All in all, great effort by the Dolphins D. I think the front 7 played great and so did the secondary.

They put quite a bit of heat on Plummer and made his throws pretty errant. Not many sacks in the stats column, but I don't think their passing game ever got a rhythm to it until we went into prevent mode in the 4th.

darn you we whooped-em,and the Jets lost what more could you want on a Sunday????

Some of you guys need to understand that pressure is sometimes just as good if not better. Plummer threw two interceptions because of pressure and threw a ton of passes away. He had very little time to throw and, as has already been pointed out, somehow escaped two additional sacks. Plummer is good at that. But the pass rush was very good. Any time you can get an otherwise decent quarterback to complete about 25-30% of his passes until the game is well out of reach, consider it a job well done.

On the way home from the game, I caught the tail-end of a conversation with Saban. One of the things he said was that they didn't have to blitz a lot. He said he was ok with the pressure that the D-Line were getting up front and he didn't feel that they needed to blitz "as much as we prepared" to do.

I haven't watched the game yet on TiVo but that's what he said.
