Play by play analysis...Feeley led offense...

The people that are saying that Gus outplayed Feeley are simple going by the individuals demeanor on the field. Gus definitely looked more calm and collected. Doesn't mean that he played better, just different.

Definitely not. It's not about stats. And it's not as black and white as some people tend to think.

But that wouldnt be about stats.. AJ would have legitimately scored.. and Gus would have made a mistake.. Isnt that how you gauge a QB? If that slipped ball gets INT, if you blamed Feeley last year for tipped INTs, you would have to place the same blame on that..

Again, this is all hypothetical because none of this occured, but some of you are being a bit irrational with your ratings.. I too thought Frerotte played a bit better.. but to say Frerotte was to Marino as Feeley was to Fiedler is ridiculous.

If you mean getting us out of the endzone to Chambers instead of standing like a deer in the headlights (or Feeley in the headlights) then yes, that is how I mean.
He DID stand like a deer in headlights. The defender MISSED the tackle!

See, I think a good QB would have felt Brown before Brown physically touched him, saw Urlacher comming in and dump it off to your outlet real quick.. I think Frerotte would have done that. If I was a composed QB I would have done that. I'm glad he diodn't throw it up for grabs too, It obviously would have been worse.

Fin.in.RI, you're reaching here, trying to find fault in AJ, on that play he did exactly what you point to a good QB, I didn't even think he knew the DLman was on him, he was focused down field and yet moved up to avoid the DE, Urlacker (sp), delayed the blitz, which caught Feeley as he was moving up in the pocket, I did notice Feeley trying to turn to avoid him but U was all over him. Feeley does have happy feet, but I would to..until the OL gains his trust, I'd be ready to save myself too.

Yeah, they played different. Gus was better than Feeley. That's the difference. Not saying head and shoulders better, but better nontheless.

Can a brother quote himself?

Avoid the temptation of grading Gus Frerotte and A.J. Feeley by whose passes have the most zip. Do not succumb to the temptation of waiting for an “ahâ€Â-inducing bomb. Instead, determine which QB directs the offense with more consistency and poise. Who is more accurate? Who puts his team in the best 3rd down position? Who establishes an offensive rhythm? There’s your early leader in this positional battle.

My last opus

Based on my own infallible criteria ... I'd have to say Frerotte is your leader right now.

Fin.in.RI, why did you delete your post?

I quoted it, but now its gone!

Thats how I remember it good post.

Because that's how it was. Both QB's looked solid. My concern was the O-line, although Chicago did look like they were blitzing an awful lot.
In a regular season game, I'm sure Linehan would have some plays called to exploit them.

If DT doesn't drop the pass from Feeley and the defender makes the tackle in the end zone when Gus ducked.... you have basically the same performance!

Not head and shoulders better...in his third year playing in this offense going up against second stringers for the majority of his time out there.....that aint saying much at all.

Gus winning the starting job will be saying plenty though. ;)
