I agree on the need to sign Waddle, Holland and Phillips to contract extensions now, and in all fairness we don’t know what’s happening behind the scenes now. The Dolphins tried the last 2 off-season to get Wilkins under contract, so the very same thing could be happening with those three.
As for Ezukanma, I don’t see the significant contribution he’s made to the team that warrants such urgency in extending him now.
If Tua’s contract can get done by June first, and depending on the structure of said contract, that would add ABOUT $13 million in cap space, along with the $18 million from Howard’s post June cut, that would give the Dolphins about $31 million in cap space…and that’s not taking into account any restructuring of Hill or Ramsey.
Hopefully we can get these 3 under contract before we lose them to anyone.
