seems to me we have so many holes we need more picks. How much is #13 worth? I do not see a QB worth giving up picks.

If there isn't a highly sought after player that slides to us trade down X's 2

they are going draft qb this yr. 1st rd or 2nd rd maybe 3 rd. rest of pick doesn't matter.

If they draft a QB this year, they should still draft one next year. Not drafting a QB after we drafted Tammehill was a huge mistake. However, I would trade back unless someone falls to us that is a legitimate pick. Not like another Harris.

What is the logic behind "Or Up" as the title suggests in the thread?

For the rebuild Miami is about to undertake they don't have the luxury of packaging multiple picks to move up a few spots.

Why do people assume that trading down is easy or the right thing? Remember how cheap it was to trade up for Dion Jordan? Well that showed how big the perceived talent drop off was and the Raiders had to sell cheap. So if #13 is a good position, just stay there. If it’s bad other teams might not give you quid pro quo

I agree we do not have that luxury. That does not mean they wont do it.

The only scenario I see happening right now is if Dexter Lawrence appears to be sliding to the late first or even 2nd rounds, the Dolphins may risk trading down thinking they could still get their man and another 2nd round pick.

If one of the top OT's slides to 13 the Texans would be the team most likely to trade up. Texans are in need of both starting OT positions this off season. Kendall Lamm finished ranked in the fifties last year. He was their highest ranked OT last year. He was an undrafted free agent and he is now a free agent in 2019.

Texans other OT's were beyond bad. Texans know if they get this fixed and add more receiving weapons their offense may be unstoppable.

I suspect they will sign an OT and look to draft the best guy they can get in round 1. It may very well be necessary and prudent for them to trade up if their guy is there at #13 and the Dolphins believe their guy will be there at #23.

They do need to trade down and I’d take 2020 picks for pick 13 but its just not that easy to accomplish. Giving how poor the roster is they can’t be so desperate that they get fleeced. The plus side of 13 is being closer to elite talent that you wont get later first round. I’ll cite the Odrick trade down and pick. Horrible result.

I do like that the state of the roster should dictate picking BPA not chasing a need and over drafting for it. Get the starting QB next year. Draft and begin developing a potential back up this year to push whoever they draft next year.

I'm definitely open to trading down, but I'm even more open to trading forward. What I mean is that I'd gladly trade our 2019 1st for a 1st and 2nd in 2020, or our 2nd in 2019 for a 1st in 2020, etc. We are blowing it up and rebuilding from the ground up. We need a QB, and I agree with you, there are no good choices in this draft. We need ammo to trade up and get our QB in 2020, on the off chance Coach Flores screws up the tanking. If we tank well, it will provide Coach Flores the base upon which to build that franchise in the systems he prefers.

Well stated

I agree with trading down. More this year then any other year in my Dolphifandom life.

It's not the QB class it was last year, at the top anyway. With more mid 1st/2nd round type prospects in Lock, Jones and Grier. We could be one of the teams pulling the trigger on a QB this year and shock everyone who thinks we setting ourselves up to take a QB first overall in 2020.

Trade downs don't all have to be block buster's or for a QB though.

Acquiring multiple 3rd and 4th rounds picks and possibly a 2020 2nd should be a legitimate target goal. We need bodies on the roster with potential, a lot more than 1 or 2.

OG, C, and RT's are traditionally stronger value in the 20's, as opposed to LT's.

DL depth in this draft is also absurd. Quality guys will be available later then they should.
