Pouncey has hip surgery out possibly 3 months

Well I sort of didnt want him on the team, but honestly, thats the worst god damn way to be gone... No players, no picks, no backup plan... We should have just cut the freaking cord when it was time...

This is a brutal surgery that will have him out closer to 4 months.

I think you can forget the idea of playoffs with this happening.
Pouncey will likely miss more than half the season. Tanne will have to roll out more and face more bull rushes.
Lazor will have to create quicker hitting plays as less time will be there for plays to develop .

How do you know what the surgery entailed? I have seen nothing but speculation. It could range from the same surgery Brandon Marshall had done in June of 2009, where he didnt miss a game, to what Percy Harvin went through last year, where he had to be placed on the PUP. It could just as easily be one or the other and at this time no one outside the organization is doing anything but guessing as to what it was..

what exactly does that mean, for an offensive lineman with no pads and no real contact? lol

There were tweets indicating he was in mid season form crushing the drills, he's right but to your point what that means I dunno. But it was being reported.

I thought he had gallstones? Or Gall Bladder problems not kidney issues?

Could have been. Both are very painful and would be very tough to deal with while playing in the NFL. (...and honestly I'm to lazy to look up which one it was)

Pouncey's going to miss most of the season because he'd rather not play through pain when we haven't given him a new contact... and even after that people around here are going to be falling all over themselves to want him resigned next offseason.

It really doesn't matter what he does, some people are going to find a way to be surprised by it.

One hidden consequence of this loss is when we have to start whittling down the roster o-line will have to be the last to be cut, and that was already an issue for us even before this. The other issue is we might have to replace his one roster spot with two others meaning instead of carrying 10 o-linemen and 6 wrs now we may have to carry 11 o-linemen and 5 wrs, costing us depth at that position as well. Its a pretty devastating loss that might have repercussions throughout the entire roster.

i keep hearing no pads with the line performance no big deal...anybody know how many padded practices the team will have in camp??? for some reason 7 sticks in my head...it's not a lot i know that...

What are you gonna say when he comes back earlier than expected and plays his ass off?

You gonna push this whole bull**** you spout around here aside or you gonna keep repeating the same **** then too?

All that being said, the biggest hurdle teams have to deal with once the season starts is the fact that they are now required to operate only one practice per week in full pads with their players. Prior to the new Collective Bargaining Agreement, teams could and would have as many as three full padded practices during the week, with no less than two. So the bulk of the work in pads must be done in training camp, particularly for evaluation purposes.

so if tha's right we will be lucky to get in 5 fully padded practices...and with an all new starting 5 up front no less...we may have to play the oline guys longer in the preseason games to give em reps...and of course add to the potential for injury as a result

It was going to be a major challenge this year regardless of the Pouncey news IMO. In order to get good or even above average OL play, players need time next to each other and time (seasons) to develop into a strength of a team. I think we had some of that on the DL over the past several years.

Butthurt much?

"Earlier than expected" would mean Pouncey comes back before week seven. Is that really what you think is going to happen? Or are you just trying to express impotent rage over this whole situation?
