My understanding is Mike Pouncey's labrum injury was nagging him thru spring. Decided to get it taken care of, for long-term stability.

good planning, why not wait another month. you don't want to spend the 4th of July on crutches

honestly with a torn labrum in his hip i think odds are good that he's done for the year already...

larsens a slug he's stout at the poa and can anchor but he will never get to stuff that the eagles ask their center to get to if he's the replacement...never...ideally for scheme purposes imo it's sam brenner i'd want the most to win the job but he struggles against strength and has to have made some serious strides with his pop on contact and his pop in his hands for that to work...

garners not much of a move athlete either...too bad we couldn't have gotten zach martin dammit...we could plug that at center

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, it’s a significant tear. And while the surgery went well (they always do), real questions have emerged regarding when Pouncey will be ready to go.

Pouncey has a high tolerance for pain; he played last year through kidney stones. Tough and mean and determined, Pouncey will do whatever he has to do to get back. The question is how long it will take for Pouncey to be ready to go.

Three months is the absolutely minimum, and it’s a very optimistic assessment. If it’s much longer than that, the Dolphins will get a taste of life without a Pouncey, like the Steelers did with his twin brother Maurkice for nearly all of 2013. And that could help Mike get the thing he wanted but has yet to get — a new contract of his own.

velasco played pretty well for the steelers last year as i recall...til i think he got hurt and was done for the year...but the steelers don't employ quite the movement of a eagles like scheme either

if i recall correctly there wasn't much of a sample size with velasco though
