QB that Tannehill reminds me of most...may not be who you're thinking.

I think its hard for all of you to see a comparison here based on Eli's career...But around here people were ready to run him out of town after 3/4 years. Like I mentioned earlier he only had 5 game winning drives in his first three years...If you were around here for those three years you would have been hard pressed to find anyone who thought eli was gunna bring the team back.

And Tannehill doesn't have time to look downfield with this o-line plus, not looking for huge play all the time is called a west coast offense
 
Not sold on him, but not throwing him under the bus yet either. There have been a lot of issues on this team. I see him trying to correct things every week. I'm more concerned if The Dolphins know how to take a team from middle of the road to top tier. Our record indicates we have some struggles there. I would have kept long and bush and kept some strength on offence. They gambled a lot in the off season. I'm not expected big management changes because they seem to have played their cards for 2014. Bullygate might have some impacts they were not expecting, but who knows, I don't care to ponder that until it is all on the table, otherwise it is just wasted breath.
 
I see where you are coming from re Eli. Another big difference is that Eli can deliver the deep pass better (stronger arm and more accurate). Eli gets sacked less often, he might have a better awareness within the pocket, as well as better pass protection.
 
I'm a Tanny believer, the kid can throw the ball....we would be crazy not to give this kid a few years to become good enough to be the franchise....he has the skills, he shows improvement and he can make all the throws, I am sure he and Wallace will get that long ball fixed, my guess is he has to throw it sooner and respect his speed...once this kid has 3-4 yrs under his belt he will be a top ten QB in this league.....
 
He does deserve respect for not dropping his eye level and looking at the rush vs downfield due to all this contact he's taken...

Tough damn kid...no one can question that

It depends, I wouldn't necessarily advocate it for the next draft, but if at the end of year 3 there are still many unanswered questions and the record still sucks its not a bad idea. I'm sure San Diego didn't mind Brees suddenly tearing it up after they drafted Rivers, having two high ceiling QBs is not a bad problem to have - but then again I bet if the Chargers had it to do over again Rivers would be in New Orleans LOL
 
I wouldn't compare him to Eli. I would say the QB he most resembles as far as skill set (athleticism, arm strength, accuracy on the move, etc.) is Aaron Rodgers. I'm not saying he is anywhere close to him now or possibly ever, but I do see similarities.

Oh yea in size and speed rodgers is the closest by far. But, thus far those comparisons stop when the QB says hike lol. But hey Rodgers had 4 years starting in college and 3 full years behind Favre so maybe come 2016 lol

I'm talking about pure tangibles but not just size and speed. Watch them both deliver the ball, especially on the move. Footwork is similar. Again I'm not comparing the 2 as QBs, I'm comparing their tangible skill sets. Tannehill has a long way to go but I'm not convinced that he won't someday be mentioned in the same conversation. Part of what makes Rodgers a great QB, or any great QB for that matter is confidence. In protection, route discipline, and in his receivers to come down with the ball. As of now Ryan does not have many of those luxuries. Only time will tell.

If anything, Ryan is more Romo then Eli, but without the choke ability that Romo has.

The problem with threads like these is everyone has 20/20 hindsight. People forget the media circus in New York after the 3rd season of how Eli Manning can't win big game, isn't clutch, he has little brother syndrome, or hes just too inconsistent.. He will never be an ELIteQB. People forget when Eli had Tiki Barber running for 1800 yards, and an elite defense, according to the media and many fans, Eli Manning was the problem. He was throwing in the 50% and throwing tons of picks. Now we look at Eli and we call him an Elite QB, that when the game is on the line, you would love to have him as your QB. It wasn't always like that though.
 
Enjoying watching him mature,the past 3 weeks he's grown up a bit in the little things he needs to do.Still has a little ways to go but at this point he will start taking larger steps forward.

I'm content.

And he reminds me of Ryan Tannehill a lot.

exactly what I said earlier...just less detail....but yes it was exactly like that around here. I still remember all my friends complaining about taking Manning over Rivers was a huge mistake...this was 4 years after eli took over lol their opinions would change very soon
 
Eli gets the ball down the field more. He also takes risks. Above all, he is clutch when it count.

Tannehill goes for the shorter routes...he loves him some outs to Hartline... He doesn't go for the long ball near as much... He has very poor pocket presence... And he has shown very little in the clutch. This is the biggest problem he has.

I don't see the comparison at all...
