quit with the excuses already...

We're referring to the state of the team, not the W-L record. That is the only thing that doesn't matter in the preseason. If we cannot even see very much improvement from game to game... then that should be a big concern, preseason or not.

So you have not seen improvements?

I hope everybody and their mothers read this thread because I'm about to make a good point.
Two seasons ago John Fox and the Carolina Panthers went 4-0 in the preseason and made it to the super bowl. Last year they went 4-0 and finished 7-9 in the regular season. My point? The preseason means nothing at all! Stop freaking out about everything.

if the argument here were about preseason records, it would be a good point, but someone would have already made it. we could be 3-0 right now and have it be because sage and brock tore up the 3rd and 4th string guys in the 2nd half. preseason records mean nothing, yes, but how you play in the preseason does.
also, with the panthers, last year they got hit hard with injuries early and i believe steve smith and stephen davis missed alot of time as well as a few key defensive players.

The statement was, "very much improvement". I get tired of hearing all of the reports that they are looking pretty good and then end up performing like they did last nite.

Record or not, I'm trying to make a point that the preseason is nothing like the regular season. Of course we don't have our starters set, that's what the preseason is for! If every team already had a perfect 53-man roster there wouldn't be a preseason.
Yes, our team isn't exactly lighting up the scoreboard but that's why we have these five weeks for, to work out the "imperfections" whether that means a different starter or teaching a new technique in pass-blocking, whatever. The preseason isn't a preview of the regular season, it's more like a series of practices that allow a coach to make some changes. You and everyone else on this board considering suicide over a preseason loss to a damn good team need to just chill out and realize that we'll be a much different team by the time the season comes around.

Let's continue this discussion in the 4th week of the season. Then the, "it's only preseason" won't hold much water.

Ok, by the way people are putting it, this is how the top 4 worst teams should be:

1. Us
2. Ravens
3. Colts
4. 49ers

Like I've said...preseason is everything.

I had a revalation about an hour ago. And it hit me like a ton of bricks. It's so simple, the reason why played so badly in Pittsburgh.

Ask yourselves this question:

Who lives and coaches in the city of Pittsburgh??

Once you answer that question, you realize that it's only natural that we'd revert to our old ways. After all, who doesn't like to make their old coach proud??
...

What if Dan Marino was there?.........

Actually we will be better when we actually have a gameplan...our starters are in the whole game instead of just a quarter at most...once we have afew more practices so they understand the system more...and Houck gets our oline working well as a team.

All this proves it that our backups might not be as good as other teams. Yeah our starters werent the best, but cmon it was one game where they dont run full speed because they dont want to get hurt. Every player is entitled to an off night once in a while. Its the preseason, none of this counts, this is just for our BACKUPS trying to make the roster.

Get Real, all of this talk about us being the worst is just plain stupid. :fire: :shakeno:

PRESEASON.

How can you sit there and compare teams in the preseason? I just don't understand what happened to football fans. Yes, we didn't look good tonight. That shows the Dolphins have work to do, but you can't sit there and say the 49ers are better because they won a preseason game. You can't compare teams, because different teams prepare more for preseason games than others. Some teams try to win, some don't.

Other than the QB/RB's, its hard to tell when the first team goes out and the second(or 3rd team comes in) Wish the commentators would emphasize this more.

Preseason means alot to a team adjusting to a new coaching staff. The team probably will struggle while they're adjusting to the new coaches. It's not like Saban walked into a situation like Gruden did in Tampa, the team does have some playmakers, but it has a long way to go, before I think they can contend for even a playoff spot.

as of right now, if we aren't the worst team in the nfl we are pretty damn close, and god help us if any starters on defense get hurt.

Oh my  we are the worst team in the NFL in PRESEASON! preseason is the keyword people. If you want to go on a mass panic spree, please do it within the confines of your own home or something because there is way too much complaining and b**ching about the team as of late.

The "STATEMENT" was not my question. I asked if you've seen improvements?

You don't have to answer if you don't want to.

Or we can just sit and cry about being so terrible now. The glass is half empty anyway.
