Random Thoughts With Six Games to Play

All good points. If Rosen isn't ready I'd like him to sit, watch and learn. He's so young. He could sit for a couple of years and it wouldn't hurt us.

We might be looking at a situation where Tua's hip ends up pushing him out of the top ten. He could be a steal with our Steelers pick...

If by "out of the top 10", you mean out of the first 4 rounds then yes, I agree.

Who, in their right mind, would use a top 10 pick on a guy that could possibly never play again, and even if he does, probobly will have lost athleticism, and is in any case proven to be injury prone?

SMH

Marino was named in the top 10 mobile QBs of all time because he was so elusive in the pocket. Dude ran a 5.3

That says it all lol

Very, very unlikely he comes out if that's the case. His rehab is supposedly going well. People freak out over hip injuries because everyone thinks the most obvious case - Bo Jackson - and assumes the worst. He wasn't a super shifty guy - he's merely a guy who has incredible pocket presence, strong decision making and laser touch accuracy. Those things aren't going to be taken away from a hip.

If every specialist Ross throws at this kid says he's okay, I think you easily give up a 1 for him.

I just don't see any way he falls out of the 1st if he cames out. That being said, I don't think he does. I know he's got the insurance policy out there, but Tua's a competitor. He's not interested in being drafted 5th round, picking up a $10 million dollar check from Lloyds of London, and then fizzling out after 3 years. He wants to be in the best situation he possibly can be in.

Good point. I think it's safe to say Tua if off EVERY team's radar until there is some solid evidence of recovery. They have all the tape/info they need BEFORE the injury. They'll make no decision until they see evidence after he's healed. Top 10? Possible, but I doubt it. R2? Maybe? R4? All depends on what teams conclude about his abilities. what will be interesting is if the evidence is 'inconclusive.'

Bo aside, this is a serious injury. Much more serious than an ACL tear, for example. Granted, he's not a WR, or RB, but he is going to take hits that he won't necessarily be prepared for.

I personally think it is just too risky for any team to take him rd1, but even more so, the dolphins. A team that is set at QB for the immediate future may feel differently, but first rounders are, generally, expected to make an immediate impact. I have seen a mock draft (not that they mean anything), that had the chargers taking him at 11.

I probably exaggerated when I said rd4, but I think it's less than 50/50 that it is a wasted pick.

I agree with most of the original post. The thing that bugs me is these "football experts" the know certain important positions at the expert level. The one's that can make "expert" judgments on certain players before they play in the league, or before they have a legitimate opportunity to succeed.

XACTLY!!! I think it's safe to say an entire NFL team's staff is more 'expert' than an individual fan, yet the failed to see Prescott and Wilson. Not just 'team' experts, but all those media outlets with their 'expert' staff. Those experts were high on Trubisky and the top 4 QBs in the 2018 draft class. For all the grief Miami (justifiably) got for the Dion Jordan, he was a top 6 pick by many.

As far as next year, fans have only this year to evaluate what's on hand. Flo and staff have shown an ability to get more out of a team than the talent shows and, for the 1st time this century, seem able to coach up players. Some players have shown glimpses of success. But all that is 'promising' - no guarantee. Which leads me to a random thought. FLo and staff seem to have found some gems and seem able to get players to perform to potential. Whether fans like it or not, they will make the draft picks, BUT, at least they show an ability to recognize talent.

Point taken. Wilson and Prescott are both playing as is Brady. How many teams passed on Marino? Art not science? Not exactly where I was going but I get it. I was pointing to some of our local armchair GM's that just know so and so are the next coming and Joe blow is finished.

And after 5 games.

Kinda unfair. Marino wouldn't be considered elusive in 2019. He played at a time when DTs were all 350lbs+ and just run-stuffed and DEs were not freak athletes like Aaron Donald, Montez Sweat, or Charles Harris....okay maybe just the first two.

It's kinda like the old Daniel Tosh joke. Ill put an asterisk beside Barry Bonds' name in the record book when I can put one beside Babe Ruth for getting to play before Black people were allowed to.

Meh, what you said about D-linemen being more athletic is true, but the same can be said of the O-linemen.

Marino had a knack for feeling pressure, and avoiding it. I have no reason to believe it would be any different today.

He also had one of the quickest releases I've ever seen.

I would also point out that, in the early years he was much faster than the latter part of his career, after injuries slowed him considerably.

2 absolute losses. 2 we’ll see but I’m confident we lose them on the road. one who sucks worse game and a will the patriots be playing for anything come week 17 tilt.

Marino could still fling it when he retired. Imagine if he received Shady treatment, and his knees weren't jacked.

Nice scenario would be that we take a QB early, and use Houston's later pick and still get That. Miami's record of drafting hurt players usually has most posters here off the charts mad.
As for Fitz voluntarily sliding over for Rosen, I do t see it. Fitz has to show his goods to the end of the season to impress the next team that picks him up. I wouldn't mind Rosen finishing out though.
