Ravens beating Detroit did not hurt us at all.

I'll tell you one thing about the Baltimore win last night, it sure makes the end of the season FUN!

This time last year we were obsessed about the draft.

Thank GOD we're still talking football!

But, you do realize how it didnt effect us at all. Most do not seem to. Even if the Ravens had lost this game, we would still need them to lose another game to an AFC opponent in the event we lose one of our remaining 2 games. And if we win the last 2, it simply dosent matter what they do. This win did not effect us. I dont get why everyone is obsessing about it.

Not even close to true.

How about this scenario (and this is not at all unlikely):

Miami L - W finishes 9-7
NE L - W finishes 11-5
Bal W - L finishes 9-7
Cincy W - W finishes 11-5
SD W - L finishes 8-8

If Bal had lost, they would be 8-8 in this scenario and we would be in as the wildcard.

I agree with the sentiment that we don't want to back into the playoffs. If you can't beat the Bills and Jets in what you should frame as must-win games, you don't deserve to make it to the playoffs. If this team is focused and playing well, they'll beat both. We've shown more mental toughness over the last few weeks than we have in the last ten years (remember the year we went 11-5, aside from the Wild Cat game, we didn't beat any good teams).

As far as who I'd rather play in RD 1 (between Cinci, Baltimore, and Indi), it's tough. Cinci clearly has the best team outside of the QB position, but Dalton is a major liability, and arm talent becomes a bigger deal in the playoffs. Flacco and Luck have arm talent to spare; Dalton - to put it nicely - does not. Gun to my head, I'd take my chances with the Bengals. I think we match up pretty well with all three (because Dalton isn't very good). Honestly, no one in the AFC is scary. If we were to win and face Denver, Tannehill has a lot more arm talent than Manning (at this point in his career). If we go into the playoffs playing well, it's wide open in the AFC.

Lastly, FWIW........

Just again...... I hate to keep harping on it...... BUT.............

If we had just beaten the God Damned SORRY ASS BILLS AT HOME earlier in the year, we could take the division lead with a win over Buffalo this week and a Pats loss AT Baltimore. The phins and ravens will likely be the favorites in those 2 games. Just sayin....... we would have the all too realistic shot of going into week 17 just needing to beat the Jests at home to go 11-5 and win the god damned division AND the 2 seed in the AFC...... which of course is what I predicted in August. God Damnit. ****ing Tannehill. ****!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wish that were true....

Without Tannehill, we are a 5 or 6 win team this year. Period.

The entire offense was out of sync for most of the first half of the year. We had a 2nd year QB trying to make plays behind a shaky OL, poor play calling, a ridiculously inconsistent running game and little familiarity with 3 of the 4 main receivers.

I want NE to win next week. NE is not losing to the Bills at Foxboro.

I agree with much of what you said. I still wanted Baltimore to lose.

Yep, and the OP thinking that didn't hurt is is nuts! Baltimore isn't losing their last 2! Therefore we will have to win out, unless cincy loses to Minn!!
That game last night really hurt. Detroit wins, we can (and might) lose at Buffalo and still get in. Now we must win out

It absolutely hurt us. Ya we control our own destiny, but We've got no margin for error. I want in the playoffs by any means, and last night hurt us no question.

Seriously stop with the backing in crap!!!! How can we complain about how we get IN the playoffs. So, if we lose at Buffalo and route the Jests at home and finish the season 4-1 over our last 5 we backed in????

Damnit WV is off his rocker we needed the Ravens to lose bad! We aren't winning the divison get over it,. I just want to get in the playoffs. I honestly think we can win at Indy or Cincy in playoffs, maybe evet at Baltimore

4 words... WIN AND YOU'RE IN!

All we can do is win our games and take care of our own business.

Buffalo is playing tougher than their record. Scares me. New York, Yea I know, they suck one week, then lay a beating another. I don't think they can hang with us, but I have no doubt both teams would like to play spoiler.

I'm looking for the Dolphins to come in and handle their business. Because they have NO business losing either of their last 2 games. If they do, I'm not sure they belong in the playoffs.

Just win baby... just win.

agree man, i wish everyone would stop worrying about other teams now.

THE MIAMI DOLPHINS CONTROL THEIR OWN DESTINY!!!! ITS VERY SIMPLE!! WIN AND YOU ARE IN. LOSE AND YOU NEED TO HOPE FOR HELP.

you should never have your season come down to hoping other teams need to lose so you can get in. the only thing u can ask for this late in the season is to control your own destiny.

if the miami dolphins fail to make the playoffs, it will not be the bengals fault, or the pats fault, or the ravens fault, or the chargers fault, it will be the MIAMI DOLPHINS FAULT, AND THEY WILL HAVE ONLY THEMSELVES TO BLAME. SO FREAKING SIMPLE.

I think if Baltimore lost, there would be the threat of this team exhaling. I want us to keep our edge. Buffalo and the Jets are both sub-.500 teams. These are games playoff teams should win. I mean, honestly, if you get swept by the Bills (who are currently 4 games under .500), how good can you feel about yourself? Just win two games you should win.

****ing baltimore. Miracle finish against the Vikings then they make a 61 yard field goal and of course that Stafford clown throws a pick. Terrible PI calls again last night in favor of Baltimore, gift PI to keep the game alive against the Vikings negating an interception and a phantom PI call against us to help them win. Something sure as **** doesn't smell right to me. How the **** do the Patriots and Ravens get like 8 gift PIs between them this season (and those are just the ones I saw) and we don't get one in 5 ****ing years.

i know i sound like a broken record, but ill keep saying it.

WIN AND WE ARE IN. SIMPLE AS 1 2 3.

IF THE MIAMI DOLPHINS ARE SITTING AT HOME ( ASSUMING WE DON'T MIRACULOUSLY GET A BYE) ON JAN 4TH OR 5TH, THEY ONLY HAVE THEMSELVES, AND ONLY THEMSELVES TO BLAME.

I know its that simple, I would still rather it be more complicated and have another way in. Plus, as somebody mentioned we can be eliminated week 16 now, that wouldn't have been possible if Detroit won last night and that sucks.

We should be slight favorites over the Bills but they're no cakewalk, especially in their house.

With the Ravens winning last night, the Dolphins also could be eliminated from the playoffs this upcoming weekend. If the Dolphins lose to the Bills and the Bengals and Ravens win, the Dolphins would be out. So there is no margin for error now.

thats actually not accurate. we can be eliminated if we lose, bengals and ravens win, AND THE CHARGERS LOSE. remember if theres a 3 way tie for the last spot between miami, baltimore, and san diego all at 9-7 then we win the 3 team tiebreaker.

so lets say this happens

buffalo beats miami, cinicnnati beats minnesota, baltimore beats new england, san diego beats denver

then

miami beats jets, cincinnati beats baltimore, san diego beats kansas city

cincinnati wins division, miami baltimore and san diego all finish tied for last wild card at 9-7, we win tiebreaker based on best conference record.

SD plays Oakland this week so that helps. Like I said earlier though, you just know this is going to come down to the absolute last second and be as excruciating as possible.

in a perfect world, ya, but at end of day, you can only ask that you do not need to rely on other teams to get into playoffs, and that is where we stand currently.
